Ein Deserteur war dreist genug, die Union zu bestehlen. Doch er hat weder mit Sherlock Holmes noch Dr. Watson gerechnet. Beide heften sich samt Kampfroboter an seine Fersen. Auf ihrer Suche treffen sie eine Archäologin samt Assistentin und fragen sich, ob den Damen zu trauen ist.

Sherlock Holmes begleitet seinen Freund Daflon zu einem Erfinder-Kongress. Schnell bemerkt er Animositäten zwischen den Anwesenden. Als ein Mann angeblich eines natürlichen Todes stirbt, vermutet er Mord und zieht Dr. Watson zwecks genauer medizinscher Untersuchung hinzu.

Bei einem Ausflug auf einen Exoplaneten geschieht noch dazu ein Mord. Holmes und Dr. Watson machen sich bei der Lösung nützlich, während der Inspektor weiter hinter Daflon her ist.

Auf einem neu besiedelten Planeten, 137 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt, wird eine medizinische Lieferung benötigt. Die Siedler zeigen sich gegenüber den Überbringern jedoch nicht sehr dankbar. Da deckt Sherlock Holmes eine Verschwörung auf.
