A year has passed since I raised a city of solid stone from the ground using the an ancient and powerful artifact. The city has thrived under my rule, aided by my queens, with a strong economy and hopeful souls arriving daily, seeking refuge and a fresh start. But grudges die hard. King Arandal, ever the spiteful one, has finally come to exact his vengeance. His soldiers swarm around my city walls like a plague of locusts and outnumber the stars. I had concerns about how well she would get along with the others, though. Gigantic mutants could sometimes be... testy. But on the brighter side of things, Hope was doing great! Our settlement grew stronger every day, with improved power systems, gardens, and finally some clean water. Our numbers slowly but steadily increased, as did our safety.

With the help of a team from a nearby settlement, the rebuilding begins with a focus on safety. Their healer, Jessica, is as beautiful as she is tough. If we could convince her to stay in Hope that would be a huge advantage. More hands means less work, and soon we had a thriving garden and four livable homes. With some help, I began work on a waterwheel that could power our new settlement. Next step: getting the plumbing working again. Things were going well, and life was simple and satisfying when we focused on the basics.
