Övningarna med Aylin fortsätter. Malin och hon ses varje kväll, och det första Aylin gör är att ge Malin en ögonbindel och ett par hörlurar med vågornas brus. Målet med övningarna är att Malin ska återupptäcka sitt heliga tempel. En kväll använder de dans och musik som metod, en annan får de besök av två muskulösa män. Dagtid njuter Malin av långa promenader och goda sallader. Hon vill aldrig att semestern ska ta slut.

Malin har levt ett helt liv med Gustav. Sedan barnen flyttade ut har deras passion svalnat men Malin vill ändå tro att det finns någon slags grundkärlek kvar. När Gustav åker till fjällen glömmer han telefonen hemma, och Malin och hennes väninna Julia upptäcker sms från en okänd älskarinna. Hela Malins värld faller samman på några sekunder, och som om det inte vore nog knackar polisen på dörren samma kväll. Har det hänt deras barn något? Eller gäller det Gustav?

Malin bestämmer sig för att fortsätta njuta av sitt fria singelliv och avslutar därför affären med Kim. Samtidigt ska väninnan Caroline separera från sin man och flytta till Göteborg. Äntligen är alla väninnor samlade i samma stad! Malin unnar sig både goda viner och lyxiga spabehandlingar, och på Hagabadet stöter hon ihop med en av de anställda från hotellet på Kanarieöarna. Han känner igen henne och hon bjuder spontant hem honom på mildag. Det blir början på ett nytt kapitel i Malins liv.

Efter Gustavs bortgång försöker Malin hitta tillbaka till sig själv. Hon åker på solsemester till Kanarieöarna, ensam, uppmuntrad av sina barn. Det är ett lyxigt spahotell, och där träffar hon Aylin, kvinnan som erbjuder Malin att vara försökskanin i framtagandet av ett njutningspaket. Hon tackar ja, och får nya överraskningar varje dag. En manlig anställd verkar också vara inblandad. Den så länge bortglömda sensualiteten väcks återigen till liv inuti Malins hungriga kropp.

Efter en sagolik semester är Malin tillbaka i Göteborg. Hon börjar fundera över hur hon ska förändra sitt hem, nu när Gustav inte längre finns, och njuter av att sakta men säkert hitta tillbaka till sig själv. Samtidigt flirtar kollegan Kim vilt och efter en lång arbetsdag tillbringar Kim och Malin natten ihop. Men vad vill Malin egentligen, nu när hon äntligen är fri att forma sitt liv på nytt? Delen om Malin i serien Bokklubben Basic Instinct skildrar en mogen kvinnas krokiga väg genom äktenskap, hemligheter och att försöka hitta sig själv.
