Jules Verne (1828-1905) was the first author to popularize the literary genre of science fiction. Written in 1898 and part of the author's famous series Voyages Extraordinaires, The Mighty Orinoco tells the story of a young man's search for his father along the then-uncharted Orinoco River of Venezuela.

From the Earth to the Moon is a science fiction adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne, published in 1865. It tells the story of the Baltimore Gun Club, a post-American Civil War society of weapons enthusiasts, and their attempts to build an enormous Columbiad space gun and launch three people — the Gun Club's president, his Philadelphian armor-making rival, and a French poet — in a projectile with the goal of a Moon landing. Five years later, Verne wrote a sequel called Around the Moon.

In this sequel to From the Earth to the Moon, Barbicane, Ardan, and Nicholl have decided to take a trip around the moon. But first they have to get to the moon from Earth. Will their trip succeed as they attempt to dodge asteroids and realize that the scientists on Earth have miscalculated their trajectory towards the moon?

One of Jules Verne's final books, The Master of the World, which was released in 1904, is a science fiction classic. The novel was written as Verne's health was deteriorating. The Master of the World is a "dark novel," full of dread and anxiety about the emergence of totalitarianism and tyrants, embodied by the novel's antagonist, Robur.

The Underground City is a novel about the fortunes of a mining community at Aberfoyle, Scotland. Miner James Starr, after receiving a letter from an old friend, leaves for the Aberfoyle mine. Although believed to be mined out a decade earlier, James Starr finds a mine overman, Simon Ford, along with his family living deep inside the mine. Simon Ford has found a large vein of coal in the mine but the characters must deal with mysterious and unexplainable happenings in and around the mine.

From the Earth to the Moon concerns a group of obsessive American Civil War veterans, members of the Baltimore Gun Club, who conceive the idea of creating an enormous cannon in order to shoot a “space-bullet” to the Moon from a site in Florida.

Doch als das eigens dafür gecharterte Schiff "Emily" am nächsten Morgen auslaufen soll, erwartet Fogg eine unangenehme Überraschung: Kapitän Sharingham wurde ermordet. Das Schiff läuft dennoch aus, angeblich unter einem neuen Kapitän, den jedoch niemand kennt. Als sie das Nordpolarmeer erreichen, ist die Stunde der Wahrheit gekommen.

Phileas Fogg und seine Gefährten befinden sich auf der Reise nach Genf, um Baron Frankenstein aufzusuchen, der Fogg als Kind behandelt und ihm die Erinnerungen an seinen Bruder Aaron geraubt hat. Bereits auf der Zugfahrt ereignen sich mysteriöse Zwischenfälle, denen es zu verdanken ist, dass Fogg und seine Begleiter die Bekanntschaft mit einem jungen Engländer namens Fayne machen. Doch kaum sind sie in der Schweiz angekommen, ist der Mann spurlos verschwunden, als hätte es ihn nie gegeben. Phileas Fogg geht der Sache nach und kommt dabei Victor Frankenstein in die Quere.

Tief unter dem Ozean entdecken sie eine bewohnte Stadt und kommen damit einem gut gehüteten Geheimnis auf die Spur. Doch nicht bei allen Bewohnern der vergessenen Kolonie sind die Fremden willkommen.

Román je poctou dílu Hrabě Monte Christo Alexandra Dumase staršího, kterého Verne považoval za svůj vzor a svoji knihu mu i věnoval. Podobně jako hrabě z původního díla je i doktor Antekirt velmi bohatý, což mu slouží k dosažení pomsty.

Budeme svědky napínavého příběhu odehrávajícího se v Indii roku 1867. Inženýr Banks pozve plukovníka Munroa, kapitána Hooda a Francouze Mauclera na výpravu po severních částech Indie. Jako dopravní prostředek jim má sloužit obrovský ocelový slon poháněný parním strojem, původně vyrobený pro bohatého rádžu. Verne líčí v románu nejen zeměpisné a přírodní zajímavosti, ale je tu i dobrodružná zápletka – plukovník Munroe hodlá pomstít smrt své ženy.
