"A Country Doctor" is a short story written in 1917 by Franz Kafka. It was first published in the collection of short stories of the same title. In the story, a country doctor makes an emergency visit to a sick patient on a winter night. The doctor faces absurd, surreal predicaments that pull him along and finally doom him. A Country Doctor is perhaps Kafka's most fantastical or surreal work. It takes its cue from Gothic literature – it has echoes of Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne – and analysing and identifying the core 'meaning' of the story has proved tricky

The Metamorphosis is one of the most commonly referenced books when you talk about absurd literature. It is heralded as a masterpiece of the existential literature genre because of how it demands the reader to accept the absurdity of the world just as it is. Although some of the events of the story are fantastical in nature, the ideas it conveys about existence, the meaning of life, and humanity are relatable to us in the real world, too.

Para ello tendrá que adentrarse en el enigmático mundo del «tribunal», una instancia omnisciente que todo lo domina desde las sombras.

Le jour de son arrestation, K. ouvre la porte de sa chambre pour s'informer de son petit-déjeuner et amorce ainsi une dynamique du questionnement qui s'appuie, tout au long du roman, sur cette métaphore de la porte. Accusé d'une faute qu'il ignore par des juges qu'il ne voit jamais et conformément à des lois que personne ne peut lui enseigner, il va pousser un nombre ahurissant de portes pour tenter de démêler la situation.

A Hunger Artist. the last book Kafka prepared for publication, was printed after Kafka's death. The protagonist, a hunger artist who experiences the decline in appreciation of his craft, is an archetypical creation of Kafka: an individual marginalized and victimized by society at large.

Josef K. is an ordinary man who is arrested on his 30th birthday. He is prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, yet the nature of his crime is never revealed to him. One year after his arrest he is executed. His last words describe his own death: "Like a dog!"

"Ich werde das Tagebuch nicht mehr verlassen. Hier werde ich mich festhalten..." schrieb Franz Kafka am 16. "In the Penal Colony" ("In der Strafkolonie") (also translated as "In the Penal Settlement") is a short story by Franz Kafka written in German in October 1914, revised in November 1918, and first published in October 1919. The first of Kafka’s three great novels, The Man Who Disappeared (America) follows the picaresque adventures of Karl Rossman, who is banished to America following a family scandal. Upon his arrival, Karl immediately happens upon his uncle, and from there follows a pattern of wandering, adoption and expulsion as Karl marches inexorably on towards the interior of the continent. With its blitheness and comical moments, The Man Who Disappeared is perhaps the most charming of Kafka’s works.
