The King family has always appreciated the remoteness of their valley deep in the Rocky Mountains. There, they have all the freedom they could desire. But the long trip to Bent's Fort for supplies is one of the few downsides. All that changes when a newcomer opens the first general store in their region. The mountain men and scattered settlers are delighted — until people start to disappear, and dark whispers hint that a seed of evil has taken root in the wilderness.

A perfect afternoon soon descends into an outdoor fight for life when a cunning and vicious mountain lion relentlessly stalks Evelyn King and Dega through an unexplored valley.

When Nate King and his family hold a cabin raising for new neighbors in their remote valley, they come face-to-face with a new kind of enemy — one that strikes terror into their hearts.

Two cousins, Garren hailing from the mountains of West Virginia, and Brodie from the flatlands of Southern Maryland, reunite the Dyer family at a hunting camp in the Potomac Highlands; the dark entity Laris doesn't care where they came from, because he knows them as the descendants of Moll Dyer, his old enemy. Three of the cousins' friends oppose the ancient evil: Anna, a hesitant Native American spiritualist, Lenore, a teenager just discovering her shape-shifting abilities, and Bridget, a teenage girl with too much to lose...and plenty to gain.

When Evelyn King and a family of Nansusequas Indians fail to return from a buffalo hunt, mountain man Nate King and his companion Shakespeare McNair set out to find them. Soon they begin to hear worrying tales of a band of White scalp hunters who have been killing and scalping every Indian they come across. But Evelyn and the Nansusequas turn up safe and sound after being rescued by freight owner Jeremiah Blunt.

Loving her adventurous life in the Rocky Mountains, Evelyn King joins her Nansusequa neighbors during a buffalo hunt only to find her party ambushed by a gang of scalp hunters who are cutting a violent swath toward New Mexico territory.

The warrior was alone. After a bloody, unthinkable act, he'd been banished from his tribe. Now, he was forced to survive in the wilds by himself. If only he at least had a woman.... In a remote valley teeming with wildlife, he finds one. Desperate for companionship, regardless of the color of her skin, he takes her. But this woman's already been claimed. And her man, a wildcat named Zach King, won't let her go without a fight - to the death.

Hot pursuit. Nate and Winona King know the frontier is a dangerous place. Even more so for a family of runaway slaves. The Kings thought they saved their new friends from the worst of their troubles, a gang of vicious slave hunters. But two of the hunters survived - and have hired a seasoned frontiersman and four killers to track the Kings and the runaways down. Nate and Winona continue to lead their party across the vast prairie to the far distant Rockies.

The legend of Moll Dyer originated in earliest colonial Maryland. Despite 300 years of civilization, and the advent of scientific reason, Moll's name is still often heard there, especially around campfires late at night, or as a warning to misbehaving little people. Her spirit is often seen as a wisp of unnatural fog in the swampy woodlands near her homestead, with her half-wolf companion at her side. This is her story.

Defeated by Moll Dyer a century before, the demons, Laris and Ladonna, return to claim their due: a Dyer child's soul. John, skin-walker and great-great-grandson of the venerable Moll Dyer, is on a quest for a place where his past sins (and his family name) are unknown. Ada Hartman is the preacher's daughter, but can she be trusted with his secret...and with the horrors of his past? Against all odds, they're drawn into a final confrontation.

When Nate King chose a new valley in which to build his home, he wanted to get away from all civilization and the inevitable trouble it brings. But Nate can't duck trouble for very long. A hostile band of Indians has also laid claim to the Kings' valley, and they've made it clear they're not willing to share. In a desperate act to punish Nate and his family, they capture his daughter, Evelyn. And Nate will do anything it take - even if it means sacrificing his own life - to get her back.

Nate King has a lot to be happy about. He and his family are settling into a new home, far from the taint of civilization. But the deep wilderness has its own set of dangers, including the greatest predator of them all: the giant grizzly. Nate has earned a reputation as Grizzly Killer, but this bear is different - this bear saved his life once, and Nate feels a debt of honor. But is it possible to teach a wild griz to go against its murderous nature? Will Nate's plan be any match for the mammoth bear's four-inch claws and wickedly sharp teeth? Or will his family learn a fatal lesson of their own?
