Wells nella Macchina del Tempo nel 1902. In questo caso la società abita su Venere, pianeta che, a causa della fitta coltre di nubi, è stato sempre sconosciuto ai vari astronomi e scienziati, e ipotizzato come inadatto alla vita. Lo stesso autore ha scritto altri cicli di romanzi di fantascienza, come il "ciclo di Pellucidar" e il "ciclo di Marte".
