Primo audiolibro della fortunatissima serie di romanzi di "Tarzan", questo romanzo, pubblicato nel 1914, divenne presto un best-seller mondiale. Il successo divenne tale che le avventure di Tarzan si snodarono per ben ventotto libri, tradotto in più di cinquanta linque, e il personaggio divenne fonte di ispirazione di almeno trenta film, telefilm e cartoni animati. Il racconto non è però solo un audiolibro di avventure e offre spunti di riflessione su temi come la diversità, i pregiudizi, il conflitto tra istinto e ragione, tra eredità ed educazione.
