Die Locke-Geschwister werden immer misstrauischer: Wer steckt hinter den sich häufenden Angriffen?

Noch ahnt keiner der Lockes, wen Bode da aus dem Brunnen befreit hat: Die "Brunnenfrau" ist ein Dämon, dessen Geist dort gefangen gehalten war. Dieser Dämon war es auch, der Sam Lesser damit beauftragt hat, die magischen Schlüssel ausfindig zu machen... Alsbald nimmt die "Brunnenfrau" mithilfe des Geschlechter-Schlüssels die Gestalt eines jungen Mannes an und wird zu Zack. Um an weitere Schlüssel zu kommen, erschleicht sich Zack das Vertrauen von Tyler und Kinsey, den beiden älteren Locke-Geschwistern. Doch ein alter Lehrer an der Schule droht, die Pläne des Dämons zu durchkreuzen: Professor Ridgeway erkennt in Zack seinen ehemaligen Schüler Lukas, der vor Jahren spurlos verschwunden ist.
