I also learned about the man my mother dated when she’d met my dad, someone who has intrigued me for years. I never thought I’d get the chance to meet him, until my parents end up dead and I can’t think of anyone else who might be able to help. I know too much.

Serelda -- Watching my sister find the love of her life has been bittersweet. As much as I’m happy for her, I’m heartsick because I can’t have the man I want. Brick is my rock. The first time I see Luciana and her sister, I think I’ve got them pegged just right -- until I look in Luciana’s eyes and see the fear she’s trying to hide. Something isn’t right. I know it deep in my gut. I never once thought a woman nearly forty years younger than me could ever captivate me, but the more I get to know her, the more Luciana holds me spellbound.

Wylde’s an incorrigible flirt. I know he acts like he’s a player, but I’ve seen another side of him. Kids from all over the area flock to him because he’s Wylde -- the guru of all things electronic. He has endless patience with the teens looking to learn his skill in video games, but he has none with adults. I love his twisted, sarcastic sense of humor, and that streak of protectiveness he shows on occasion. He’s wicked smart and I love watching him use his intelligence and his wit. Plus he’s hotter than sin. So I flirt back.

I spent an amazing three days with Jackal before he disappeared back to his club, the Devil’s Boneyard. He’d made it clear what we had was a temporary thing—he never wanted the picket fence and kids. I was fine with that. Then I faced the scariest thing ever. Telling my big brother, Tank, a Dixie Reaper, I was pregnant and alone at the age of 19.

Sofia–I didn’t know what to expect when a man loaded me and my sisters on his jet and brought us to the United States. I’d thought we’d suffer at the hands of these men, much the same as what we’d left behind. Some of us have physical wounds, but those will heal over time. It's the emotional scars I worry we’ll never recover from. I’m going somewhere different from my sisters, alone in a new country with strange men.
