Pony og Lise må lægge hovederne i blød, for Maja begynder at opføre sig meget underligt og rastløst - og ikke rigtig gider være sammen med dem. De oplever også deres første ridetur til havet og at blive jagtet af hyrdehunde - og så prøver de at få deres egen køretur i Majas forældres bil. En serie om tre vidt forskellige piger på 12-13 år og deres hverdag med heste, skole, drenge og hinanden. Pony (Karen) er en rigtig hestepige. Hun er meget omsorgsfuld over for sine veninder og ville gerne redde hele verden, hvis hun kunne. Maja er bare god til alting.

Pony & Co. gør selvfølgelig alt, hvad de kan, for at ingen skal opdage, at Tessa faktisk er til salg, og at det jo ikke er Pony selv, der er den lykkelige ejer. Men det lykkes ikke rigtig. Flere og flere piger med rige forældre kommer på besøg i stalden. Og Pony bliver mere og mere fortvivlet.
