While out for a walk, two young men find themselves on Enderly Rd., known for its poor inhabitants and shabby dwellings. They meet a crying girl on her way home and stop her. Learning that the boys who promised to help decorate the schoolhouse for the examinations to be held on Christmas Eve were backing out, the two young men decide to help out the little girl.

Clorinda laments being poor around Christmastime to her Aunt Emmy. Die auf dem Hörbuch präsentierte Inszenierung wurde mit Sprechern des Deutschen Theater Berlin aufgenommen.

Huck Finn lebt bei der Witwe Douglas. Sie hat ihn bei sich aufgenommen, weil Hucks Mutter tot und sein Vater ein Trinker ist. Huck fühlt sich nicht wohl bei der Witwe. Er reißt aus und entschließt sich, sein Leben selbst in die Hand zu nehmen. Er trifft den schwarzen Sklaven Jim, der ebenfalls aus dem Haushalt der Witwe Douglas getürmt ist.
