Die Crew ist mittlerweile auf dem Planeten gelandet. Begleitet von der Angst, jeden Moment auf weitere Aliens zu treffen, versucht man, sich zu den Minen vorzukämpfen. Die gute Nachricht: Die Crew hat es tatsächlich zurück zu MARION geschafft! Und hier gilt es keine Zeit zu verlieren. Während Hooper die Brennstoffzelle in die NARCISSUS einbauen muss, sollen die anderen Lebensmittel und Medikamente einsammeln, um für die lange und beschwerliche Reise gewappnet zu sein. Doch nicht nur Ash will das Team davon abhalten, die MARION lebend zu verlassen - auch das letzte verbliebene Alien lauert irgendwo im Schiff noch immer auf frische Beute.

Trotz schwerer Verletzungen und eines herben Verlusts ist es der Crew gelungen, die rettende Ebene 4 zu erreichen, auf der die dringend benötigte Brennstoffzelle lagert. Und selbst Sneddon schöpft nun neue Hoffnung: Der Facehugger hat sich von ihrem Gesicht gelöst - und offenbar geht es ihr gut. Der Rückweg zur MARION kann also endlich beginnen. Doch Ripley weiß, dass es nur eine Frage der Zeit ist, bis ein Alien aus ihr herausplatzt.

Der Raumfrachter MARION umkreist den Planeten LV178, aus dessen Minen das wertvolle Element Trimonit gewonnen werden soll. Seit zwei Tagen besteht jedoch keinerlei Funkkontakt zu den Minenarbeitern, und die Crew auf dem Mutterschiff macht sich langsam Sorgen - allen voran Captain Jordan und ihr Chefmechaniker Chris Hooper. Als die Verbindung zu den Kollegen plötzlich wieder steht, ist die Erleichterung zunächst groß.
