Unser Grundvertrauen in unsere Kinder ist viel entscheidender als die aktuellen Schulprobleme, oder andere Probleme. Was ist meine Haltung meinem Kind/meinem Jugendlichen gegenüber? Müssen sie alles machen so wie ich mir das vorstellen, und erst dann können meine Kinder mein Vertrauen haben? - Das ist eine wichtig philosophische Übung. Denn man muss sich auch als Kind/Jugendlicher fragen: Will ich meine Eltern zufrieden machen, oder finde ich meinen eigenen Weg?

Anstrengende Kinder besitzen besonders ausgeprägte Eigenschaften, die im Erwachsenenalter sehr geschätzt werden: Willensstärke, Ausdauer und Sensitivität. Bei Kindern und Jugendlichen führen diese Gaben oftmals zu Schwierigkeiten auf ihrem Weg durch Kindergarten, Schule und alle Institutionen, die Anpassung, Flexibilität und Selbstkontrolle erfordern. Ihre Erziehung führt Eltern immer wieder an ihre Grenzen und vor viele Fragen: Was kann ich tun, um meinem Kind eine unbeschwerte Kindheit zu ermöglichen?

Computersucht, Komasaufen, Schulmüdigkeit - selten gibt es positive Schlagzeilen über Jugendliche. Und das, obwohl die Mehrheit selbstbewusst, verantwortungsvoll und mit viel Eigeninitiative in die Welt startet. Mit Jugendjahre wollen Remo H. Sono inconciliabili tra loro, o sono possibili reciproche influenze? Sappiamo riconoscere il valore umano della malattia? Queste e altre domande articolano una riflessione sulle passioni fragili che appartengono alla nostra vita e alla nostra crescita.

Sfrontati e fragili, ostili e desiderosi di affetto, gli adolescenti rappresentano una sfida per gli adulti, ma soprattutto per loro stessi, alle prese come sono con la difficile costruzione del proprio io e del proprio ruolo sociale. Anche se alcuni drammatici fatti di cronaca sembrano insondabili è compito degli adulti capire. Ogni generalizzazione produce soltanto pregiudizi e la "miscela" dell'adolescenza, per non diventare esplosiva, richiede adulti coerenti nell'esempio e nella guida, capaci di attenzione e di rispetto.
