Dunja Hayali über ein Deutschland, das auf dem Spiel steht: "Ich hatte nie das Gefühl, nicht deutsch zu sein. Erst als ich im Fernsehen auftauchte, begann man, mir meine Heimat abzusprechen. Heute frage ich mich: in was für einem Deutschland möchte ich und wollen wir eigentlich leben?" Dunja Hayali geht den Fragen auf den Grund, die unsere Nation unter Spannung setzen: wie wird "Heimat" definiert? Was wird aus Deutschland, wenn selbsternannte Heimatschützer diesen Begriff als Chiffre für Ausgrenzung missbrauchen? Die menschliche Geschichte war immer wieder geprägt von Wanderungsprozessen. Dabei zeigte sich durchgehend: Einwanderungsgesellschaften, die Ziel der Zuwanderung waren, stellte die Einwanderung dagegen, soweit sie in größeren Zahlen stattfand, regelmäßig und nahezu ausnahmslos eine Bedrohung für die Stabilität ihrer Gesellschaften sowie für Leib und Leben der indigenen Bevölkerung dar. Einwanderung war auch niemals historisch unvermeidlich.

C'è una linea immaginaria eppure realissima, una ferita non chiusa, un luogo di tutti e di nessuno di cui ognuno, invisibilmente, è parte: è la frontiera che separa e insieme unisce il Nord del mondo, democratico, liberale e civilizzato, e il Sud, povero, morso dalla guerra, arretrato e antidemocratico. L'immigrazione è un fenomeno complesso, radicato nelle condizioni sociali del paese e nelle trasformazioni degli ultimi decenni. Un fenomeno parte di un processo più ampio che ha investito in tempi diversi tutti i paesi dell'Europa occidentale e che ha reso gli immigrati una presenza stabile.

Di immigrazione si parla molto, nelle cronache dei giornali e in tv, nei dibattiti pubblici e nelle discussioni private. Eppure molte domande sull'argomento restano ancora senza risposta. Da dove arrivano, e cosa cercano, i migranti che tentano la via del Mediterraneo? Cosa sono, e come si diffondono, le fake news sui flussi migratori? Quali sono i limiti e le responsabilità delle politiche italiane ed europee sull'accoglienza? Che cosa possiamo davvero fare?
