Der große Vater Hu ist ein Fuchsgeist. Wenn die Füchse mit der Bereitung des Lebenselixiers beinahe fertig sind, so können sie Wunder tun. Sie werden dann in die kaiserlichen Opferlisten eingetragen. Als die Mandschus nach China kamen, da machten sie Mukden zu ihrem Ahnensitz und errichteten daselbst einen großen Tempel, der einem hohen Würdenträger zum Schutze anvertraut wurde. Alles ist genauso wie an dem kaiserlichen Tempel in Peking.
