Struggling with mental health issues can be lonely. The world, to the sufferer, is not bright and vibrant, but rather dark and bleak. We long to see the beauty, but it is difficult to navigate the caverns of depression. The light is always seen, but is just out of reach.

Lit Soul: My Journey Back to Faith is a collection of poetry written in four sections about love, loss, finding your place in the world, and coming back to what you can’t see, which is faith. It’s an honest telling of poet Jessi’s life from the age of six years old to the present day. It’s having faith again and growing it stronger through each section. It’s a place to find that we aren’t so different after all.

I wrote this anthology over a period of 11 years on and off. This book is borne from an encouragement and cheer ministry I have on the job plus the special gift I have in writing Christian poetry. I have been writing and reading verses and poems to cheer the sick I care for. I added a Bible verse each time, and both were received well and created joy in their hearts.
