Poetry kills inner demons. It takes away their power. Removes their teeth. Loosens their grip. It turns them into mere words in a narration. Something to be heard and remembered, but no longer feared. What follows is an act of therapy. In moments of inner crisis, I put pencil to paper and let the words come. This process is not pleasant, but it is cathartic. I share this with you in the hopes that we can both feel less alone in our suffering and to show you that when you look at your demons, they lose all their power.

This book is a collection of poetry that explores pain, love, and growth through the different phases of the moon: the new, the waxing, the full, and the waning. Each phase takes the listener through the stages of their own life, sparking an inner conversation. Each poem carries within it its own universe and its own whispers to the listener. It is simply planting the seedling of a constellation within all of those willing to taste the moonlight.

Threnody is an archaic word which has its roots in the Greek term, which means to sing a dirge, generally at a funeral or at the loss of a cherished person. In this volume, D. Scott Smith (author of Motivational Listener) provides vision and understanding that allows for comparison between the “good old days” and the present times. The nineteenth century seems so distant and unreal, almost as if there is no connection between the people of that era and ourselves. When listening to this book, you will be surprised at how much we have in common.

I recorded this the day after we lost one of our beloved pets. Rainbow Bridge is the theme of several works of poetry written in the 1980s and 1990s that speak of an other-worldly place where pets go upon death, eventually to be reunited with their owners. It brings a lump to my throat, and often a tear to my eye but also comfort as I recall good times with Pongo.

Sometimes lovers enter a relationship with the best of intentions but wind up in a place far from love. Sometimes poets attempt love poems, simple and pure, but.... Over breakfast, a husband trying to deny creeping out on his wife the previous night can't help but give hints about the creepy things he really did. On a beach, a man minding his own business is accosted by a pretty woman before a strong tide embarrasses them both. A tone-deaf proposal for marriage ends in murder. A traditionally arranged marriage spins into a deranged and surreal nightmare. These aren't anti-love poems. These are poems born and burned out of love.

Saris and a Single Malt is a moving collection of poems written by a daughter for and about her mother. The audiobook spans the time from when the poet receives a phone call in New York City that her mother is in a hospital in New Delhi to the time she carries out her mother's last rites. The poems chronicle the author's physical and emotional journey as she flies to India, tries to fight the inevitable, and succumbs to the grief of living in a motherless world.

Story0 out of 5 stars 0
The tradition of Victorian mourning jewelry began with Queen Victoria after the death of her husband, Prince Albert. Without photography, mementos of personal remembrance were used to honor the dead so that their loved ones could commemorate their memory and keep their spirits close. Ashes were placed within rings, and necklaces were made out of hair, and the concept of death photography, small portraits of the deceased, were often encased behind glass. Wytovich's poetry explores the horror that breeds inside of the lockets, the quiet terror that hides in the center of the rings.

Sunsborne pitches darkly into another world. Often the world and characters is hazy, but ''Sunsborne'' is a true picture of the reality, conflict, and tensions. In the midst of a conflict torn situation there is love. Robin Wyatt Dunn presents an uncanny story of past and present, darkness and light. His way with language and its thick opacity create a stunning impact on the mind. If you are looking for ''meanings'', leave it. If you are looking for legerdemain stunts, leave it. But if you are looking for a fabulous world, in mythic settings, here it is.
