Als Liebermann seinen Landsitz in Berlin-Wannsee errichtete, plante er die Gartengestaltung in einer ausführlichen Korrespondenz mit Lichtwark. Er selbst entwickelte für die Gartenlandschaft eine Grundidee und arbeitete sie mit seinem Freund zu einem vielgestaltigen modernen Garten aus.
