For years, Monsanto declared that their product Roundup, the world’s most widely used weed killer, was safe. But that all changed in 2015, when the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) analyzed data from scientific studies and concluded that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, was probably carcinogenic. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) disagreed, other regulatory agencies got involved, and scientists clamored to understand the link between glyphosate and cancer.

Story
Ewan Cameron is a Vancouver-based health researcher that has uncovered the truth about cervical cancer and how the pharmaceutical industry has kept this hidden from the public. A graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, he completed his journalism studies in the early 2000's before joining a local newspaper, where he became disillusioned by his editor's refusal to publish health-related and pollution-related news stories. The reason? They would upset their corporate clients on which the newspaper depended for advertising revenue.

Story
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) was discovered in 1964. At the time, the very idea of a virus underlying a cancer was revolutionary. Cancer is, after all, not catching. Even now, the idea of a virus causing cancer surprises many people. But Epstein-Barr, named after its discoverers, Sir Anthony Epstein and Dr Yvonne Barr, is fascinating for other reasons, too. Almost everyone carries it, yet it is only under certain circumstances that it produces disease.

Story
My name is Jayne Pritchard. You might recognize me as one of the news anchors from CTV News in Barrie. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and have written about my experience and the importance of looking after yourself through this journey. The reason I wrote this audiobook is because I want women to ensure they get regular mammograms, and whatever other diagnostic tests their doctor recommends. Early detection is key to a positive outcome. I almost put off my mammogram, which discovered an early form of an aggressive type of breast cancer.

This is his powerful and moving human-interest life story, as told by his wife Tina, including his battle against cancer.‘But Bobby had been in that dark place before Lance Armstrong was even born. In many ways it was even more devastating…in those days cancer was something you just didn't mention, a taboo word, a fearful prospect.

Story
Here are my email dispatches sent from the frontline with dry humour and honesty - but no sentiment. I start with the lead up to the action (performing the day before) and end with world travel. A noble hero? At times I felt more like the battleground itself! "Stay calm, lie flat, and drink plenty of water." It was others who fought: the medics, those who visited, prayed, etc. Personally, in such circumstances, I doubt an aggressively positive attitude makes much difference to outcome: That may encourage some!
