MIND ESTRANGED tells the story of Bethany’s life, from her years as a promising university student through her gradual descent into schizophrenia, and unexpected, full recovery. While slowly losing her sanity, she traveled the world. She returned to the U.S. unable to work or study—and soon found herself homeless, delusional, and controlled by voices that talked to her and gave her orders in her mind. Craig Fitzpatrick is nearly completely blind but has taught over 300 blind adults and children to play ice hockey at a competitive level.

I didn’t realize I was dyslexic until I was 41. By that time, I’d lost my job due to spelling mistakes more times than I can remember. But dyslexia is more than just making mistakes.

Physicians shut down their previous practice of repeated refills, once the death toll was too high to ignore. That place was home health care.

A little over a year of living with bipolar type one. I ended a year off of medications deeply in love and with a stay in jail for joy-riding and fleeing and eluding. My family suffered, my friends suffered, and I suffered. This is a journal starting after my stay in jail.
