Thirteen-year-old Jakob’s family has hidden their true identity as Jews and are living as Catholics in Budapest during WWII. One day, in a burst of loyalty, Jakob decides to reveal that he is Jewish, a choice that puts his whole family in danger. Jakob hopes his best friend Ivan, a Christian whose father is a high-ranking military official, will help his family, but he comes to believe that Ivan has abandoned them. Sent as a prisoner to Auschwitz, Jakob is kept alive by his passion for revenge against Ivan. When Jakob is freed, he discovers that Ivan, too, made a choice that day.

This story is a gem representing the delightful stories from the Indian subcontinent which capture the simple essence of everyday life in India. The simple pleasures of life indicate a time gone by before the advent of cellphones and Facebook, a time which almost stood still, a time when children could revel in the rain, make paper boats and race them down a drain, play marbles and generally pass time. The once idyllic life almost seems too slow and bear and hence is fascinating to watch unfurl as we listen to the story.

Tenali Ramakrishna is more fondly known as Tenali Rama across India. Although he was employed as a Telugu poet at the court of King Krishnadevaraya, who ruled Vijayanagara from AD 1509 to 1529 and wrote many poems, he is well known for his sense of humor which was conveyed very well in his short stories.

Choosing to create advantaged positions and avoid disadvantaged positions is the most underutilized strategic asset in wrestling. The wrestler who wrestles in his highest advantage position, for the longest time in the match, will have the greater probability of winning. That is the reason why two wrestlers wrestle multiple times with drastically different outcomes, and why the logic doesn't hold that if one wrestler beat another he should be able to beat the wrestler his prior opponent beat.
