Although set in Jesus’ time, Bethlehem’s Brothers sounds like an adventure novel set in a third world country during a violent revolt. Two brothers are swept into the conflict early in their lives and struggle to find the strength to survive amidst the death and destruction. Each searches for a savior, but success eludes them until they finally discover one who has been ruthlessly hunted since he was two years old. Who is this revolutionary who challenges the status quo, and should he be trusted?

Travis Brody is an arrogant, antagonistic fry cook with a chip on his shoulder the size of Arkansas. He’s been fighting his own demons for over a decade and wonders why he even bothers any more. When Travis comes across a scared little boy and a dying man on a bitter February night while on his way to fulfill an obligation he should never have made, his first reaction is to turn around and ignore them. However, his heart refuses to turn from a crying child. Now, Travis and the kid are on the run from people who are trying to kill them.

Detective Clarissa Tempest knows firsthand that vamps are real, but now there are new problems that seem to be pointing toward...werewolves? Seriously? It’s bad enough it took Clarissa endangering herself to convince her fellow officers that vamps are real, but now there’s a rash of killings with animal markings from wolves or another large animal, only Bethlehem, PA definitely isn’t home to those kinds of predators. But then she witnesses an animal attack...and the animal shifts into a man.

At 27, detective Clarissa Tempest is one of the best at sniffing out goons, but these particular goons seem to be the bloodsucking kind. Vamps aren’t real, right? Of course not. But Clarissa knows what she’s seen. Unfortunately, she’s a little distracted, and her actions earn her a suspension. Great. Life is really looking up. Maybe her therapist is right. Maybe she’s under too much stress and is seeing things. But then a vamp seeks her out, telling her to knock it off and leave them alone or else he’ll knock her off.

Detective Clarissa Tempest has faced against all kinds of foes. She's made some questionable choices. Now, she'll have to deal with the fallout that includes her being cut from the police force. That doesn't mean Clarissa is going to turn her back on the people of Bethlehem. No how. No way. And it's a good thing, too, because a new kind of foe has emerged.
