The cure for cancer has been an elusive undertaking for the past century. Although many forms of the disease have been treated and reversed, there are still some that plaque portions of the global population. In an effort to raise awareness for the need for continuing medical research, Commander Drew recently attended a large annual Cure for Cancer Ball chaired by his daughter Taryn.

As we age it is common to enter different phases of life. If you take time to look backward, upon reflection, you can see changes in yourself over time.

Eating is a favorite pastime of just about everyone. But if done to excess, overconsumption can lead to a whole host of negative health outcomes culminating in an early death. Dr. Paul’s toenails have been under serious reconstruction for quite a while. Despite being called The Big Bad Wolf, he has been getting laser treatment on the discolored nails in the hope that one day the indwelling fungus is defeated. Only time will tell.

One of the strange things about taking a vacation is that when it’s all over it feels good to be back home.

Most people in life will never get thumped while flying an airplane, if it ever happens it will be a memorable experience that will give you a story to tell even decades later.

Sadly, soon there may only be one.

The U.S. Navy has made a dramatic change in the way that student Naval Aviators earn their Wings of Gold. This unique segment of the U.S. military has eliminated the requirement to have actually landed a plane on an aircraft carrier before receiving their golden wings and being designated as Naval Aviators. The change was made in an effort to reduce training time, as well as wear and tear on airframes and most important, to save money. Advances in technology. The advent of Precision Landing Mode, informally known as “Magic Carpet” is a technological advancement in a data linkup with an aircraft’s flight control system. The bottom line, is that this advancement in technology makes landing on a ship easier. Only time will tell.

In a bit of good news, one professional sports team is using some of its resources for charitable purposes. A team in the Womens National Basketball Association, the Atlanta Dream in partnership with the mobile financial platform known as Cash App will retire the debt for thousands of people to eliminate this burden that weighs heavily on families.

Since we all know, “two wrongs don't make a right”, we should all strive to do the right thing, even if it’s not convenient.

Commander Drew and his wife had a whirlwind trip for the ages that featured visits to parts of Greece and Turkey that are off the beaten path for the average tourist. His favorite cruise line, Virgin Voyages was the host of this journey in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. If you are going to the same places as the rich and famous, make sure you bring plenty of money, especially if you want something to eat or drink!

The Wingman Show has a new crew member we call ACE. ACE is our partner who is actually a manifestation of artificial intelligence who is always at the ready to answer your questions, save you loads of time and is the ultimate non-physical helper. The modern world refers to our ACE as the newest form of AI. But your wingmen remember the original AI from back in the day, in the form of Hall of Fame basketball icon, Allen Iverson, the phenom who played for Georgetown University and the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers.

In the area of good news, consider the rapid expansion of women’s sports that extends beyond the boundaries of the playing field, covering team management as well as expanding roles officiating in all sports. A recent example is the expansion of the Womens National Basketball Association with a range of new teams joining the league over the next five years.

Meet a living wingmen nearing the age of one hundred who was recently recognized and celebrated for his role in the liberation of a town from Nazi occupation in Czechoslovakia during World War II when he was still a teenager.

You probably have talents you have not explored yet. Take the time to try something new, something that you really desired, but never got around to ever starting.

Virgin Voyages is providing Commander Drew and his lovely wife another great adventure in the Mediterranean Sea. He is such a regular on the Virgin line that he knows the layout of all of their big ships. He is having such a good time he actually had flashbacks to being in the Navy when he volunteered to participate in an exercise in survival with U.S. Marine Corps that took place on the largest island in Greece, the island of Crete. He had to rough-it for a while but survived the encounter. This time the ship is heading to Crete, but he won’t be roughing-it; he will be sitting in the lap of luxury probably lounging somewhere on a beach frequented by the rich and famous, where a simple lunch for two costs about $500.00 (give or take.)

For some good news in the world, consider that recent studies suggest that eggs, once cited as unhealthy due to cholesterol, was said in error as egg consumption may actually lower unhealthy (bad) cholesterol when used as part of a diet low in saturated fat.

There is no need to die of loneliness if you have the strength to get out in the world and try something new.

The world runs on various forms of energy. But one source of power that’s totally free, is available to all of us. It’s the sun. Make it a practice to get some sun every day, preferably in the morning to charge yourself up with Vitamin D to help build bone strength and fortify your immune system.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team is headed to court. This case stems from a complaint that the noise of their jets during a scheduled air show contributed to the untimely demise of a 14 year old cat named Layla. The Blues are accused of “state sponsored acoustic torture” of the beloved pet. There are also social media first amendment issues involved that complicates things further.

Jet travel is a common place in modern society. Few people know that commercial jet travel began with the introduction of the Dehavilland Comet in England. Eventually, it was deemed to be unsafe due to design flaws, but the lessons learned contributed to safer aircraft developed by the Boeing and Douglas aircraft corporations respectively. Even fewer people are aware the very first jet ever produced was actually developed for Germany during World War Two. Although they were faster than most propeller planes, several were shot down by the Tuskegee Airmen using their prop-driven P-51 Mustang aircraft.
