  • E72: Drew Petersen; "Feel It All," mental health awareness in the outdoor community
    Dec 3 2025

We dive deep with Drew Petersen about his film "Feel It All" and his life in the mountains; from ski mountaineering to 100-mile ultramarathons, and how weather, terrain, and mental health are all intertwined in his story. We also recount some of his wildest experiences, like getting over 5 inches of snow per hour while in Japan, and the mindset required to navigate that kind of unpredictability.

"Feel It All" chronicles Drew’s journey from suicidal depression to discovering strength and purpose; culminating in his decision to run the Leadville Trail 100 ultramarathon, while skiing and running through Colorado’s high-peaks. The film seeks to break the stigma around mental illness and suicide, especially within mountain and outdoor communities.

  • E71: Jaime Fensterl; Resilience, Ultra Racing & Reinvention
    Nov 19 2025

In this inspiring episode of Weathering The Run, I sit down with Jaime Fensterl, a trail and ultra runner based in Ohio. Jaime is no stranger to the ups and downs of endurance racing: she’s tackled 100-mile ultras where she’s faced her fair share of heartbreak & injury, yet keeps coming back stronger. She just finished Rim To River 100 after taking a long break from 100 miles races, due to injury.

Jaime’s journey is a testament to grit and perseverance. She’s not afraid to go back out, learn from the hard runs, and reset her goals. Whether she’s covering 50K, 100K, or 100 miles, Jaime’s philosophy is grounded in consistency, self-kindness, and embracing the process; not just chasing the finish line. We also dive into what motivates her, how she mentally rebuilds after tough races, and why the journey matters just as much as the result.

  • E70: Jessica Kopelwitz & Brock Everhart, No Business 100 miler finishers
    Nov 5 2025

No Business 100 miler is a beautiful and brutal trail race in Tennessee and Kentucky. The race changes directions each year and it went clockwise this year and I am so honored to have on two finishers from the race this year. Jessica Kopelwitz had to drop out of last year's race, so this was redemption for her. Brock Everhart finished last year and came back to run the race in the opposite direction this year to get the double buckle award. Brock is also a strength and endurance coach, if you are looking to check out his company: Build Pursuits.

    In the conversation we cover:

    • What motivated Amy to tackle 50+ half-marathons, one in each state

    • How the journey has expanded into “run in all of the national parks too”

    • The highs and lows of travel, terrain, weather, and pacing across different states

  • E68: Morgan Myers; Eyeing big goals on the Huron-izon
    Oct 8 2025

I met Morgan Myers back in 2017 with the Columbus Westside Running Club. We had run together occasionally at group runs, but our most recent time running together was 2021 at the GRRR 50k, before she moved away. She continues challenging herself and recently completed the Woodstock 50 miler. She is such a happy person to be around & it was great catching up as she is gearing up for the Huron 100 miler. Don't challenge her because she will go three times farther than you think.
