• High School Football - Week 16 - Shelby vs Glenville - (State Championship Game December 5th, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets historic season came to an end on Friday in the Division IV State Championship game in Canton, as the Whippets fell to Glenville, 45-7, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The game was tied 7-7 in the 2nd quarter, after Michael Shepherd scored on a 1 yard TD at the 11:39 mark. Glenville (12-3) would go on to score 38 unanswered points in route to winning their 3 state title in 4 years (2022, 2023, 2025). Shelby finished the great season in school history at 14-1 and their 1st ever appearance in the state championship game. The Tarblooders defense held Shelby to just 26 yards of offense.   • High School Football - Week 15 - Shelby vs Indian Hill (State Semi-Final) - November 28th, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets are headed to Canton to play for the Division IV State Championship, after Shelby beat Indian Hill, 42-7, on Friday in the Division IV State Semi-Final. Shelby led 28-7 at halftime, after two huge plays :13 seconds part in the 2nd quarter gave the Whippets a 3 touchdown lead at the half. Brayden DeVito hit Carter Kessler in the back of the endzone on a 7 yard TD pass. DeVito then seconds later picked off a pass and took it back 44 yards for a touchdown. Brayden DeVito scored 4 TDs on the night, 2 yard TD run and 23 yard pass to Brady Bowman were the other two TD's for DeVito, who now has 69 TDs this season and 205 for his career. Travis Slone had a 9 yard TD run and Gavin Baker blocked a punt and Hunter Oney pounced on it in the endzone for the final Shelby score. The Whippets defense was amazing again and now has only given up 51 points in their last 10 games combined. Shelby now with a program record 14 wins in a season will play Glenville for the Division IV State Championship on Friday, December 5th in Canton at 10:30 am.

  • High School Football - Week 14 - Regional Final - Shelby vs Galion - November 21st, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets won their 2nd Regional Championship in school history on Friday night, as the beat the Galion Tigers, 41-7, at Arlin Field in Mansfield in the Division IV Regional Final. Brayden DeVito, a Mr, Football candidate, scored 5 touchdowns and accounted for 400 total yards in the victory. DeVito threw for 4 scores and ran for the other to give him 201 total career touchdowns. Brady Bowman caught 2 TD passes, Kayden Paz made a great diving catch for a score in the 2nd quarter, while Travis Slone hauled in the other. Shelby's defense led by Sam Gwirtz just continues to get better and better. The Whippets held Galion to just 20 yards rushing on 17 carries. Brice Sampsel had 10 tackles, Gwirtz and DeVito each had 6. Shelby's defense had 2 INT's, Cole Dorsey and Michael Shepherd made a great play by tipping the ball up in the air and running it back for a touchdown. Shelby (13-0) will play in the State Final Four on Friday, November 28th vs Indian Hill.   • High School Football - Week 13 - Lima Bath at Shelby - November 14th, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets are headed to play in the regional championship game for the 5th time in school history. Shelby roll past Lima Bath on Friday, 49-7, in the Division IV Regional Semi-Final at the Whippet Athletic Complex. Brayden DeVito, a Mr. Football candidate, racked up 6 touchdowns in the 1st half, 3 rushing and 3 passing, to push Shelby into the championship game for the 1st time since 2020. The Whippets had over 400 yards of offense and all 3 TD pass from DeVito went to Brady Bowman, who now has 21 TD catches on the year and over 1,400 yards receiving. Freshman Luke Blevins, who has impressed at the varsity level this season, darted 60 yards to the end zone on the 1st play from scrimmage in the 3rd quarter. Shelby's defense was incredible, as the Whippet D put pressure on Lima Bath's QB all night and just lived in the backfield. Brayden DeVito had an interception and Sam Gwirtz was all over the field from his linebacker spot. Carter Kessler was flying off the edge for Shelby's defense, which now has only given up 37 total points in the last 8 weeks. Shelby (12-0) will now take on Galion (11-1) in the Regional Championship game on Friday night, November 21st. #1 vs #2 for a spot in the State Final Four and what should be a fantastic game in North Central Ohio. *Game aired live on WMAN with Aaron Hines and Erik Will

    The Shelby Whippets defeated the Orrville Red Riders, 42-0, on Friday in the Division IV Regional quarterfinal at the Whippet Athletic Complex. Shelby, after a bye week, had a slow start in the 1st quarter leading 3-0, but racked up 27 points in the 2nd quarter in route to the win. Brady Bowman led Shelby with 3 touchdown catches and 145 yard receiving. Brayden DeVito threw 4 TD passes, the other to tight end Michael Shepherd. DeVito moved into 4th place all time in Ohio high school football in passing yards with over 12,201. Brayden threw for 283 yards and his 4 TDs put him now in 14th place all-time in Ohio history for passing touchdowns. DeVito now has 190 career TDs. Travis Sloan ran for a 30 yard TD and the Whippets special teams blocked a punt and scored a touchdown. Griffin Yeager flew in to make the block, while freshman Luke Blevins grab the football for a TD in the 2nd half. #1 Shelby (11-0) will host #4 Lima Bath (9-2) on Friday night, November 14th, in the Division IV Regional Semi-Finals at the Whippet Athletic Complex. *Former Shelby QB Brennan Armstrong dropped into the broadcast booth with Aaron Hines and Erik Will during the 2nd quarter*

  • High School Football - Week 11 - Orrville at Clear Fork - 1st Round Playoff Game - October 31st, 2025

    The Clear Fork Colts season came to an end on Friday, as their comeback fell short in the 4th quarter in a 35-28 first round playoff game at the Colt Corral on Halloween. The Colts (6-5) jumped out first with a 2 yard TD run by Alex Schlosser to go up 7-0 in the 1st quarter. But, Orrville would score 3 straight times to take a 21-7 lead into halftime. The Red Riders got a 3 yard TD run from Parker Hostetler and QB Cam Craft threw 2 touchdown passes to 6'5 wide receiver, Braylon McDuffie. The final score came with :22 seconds per the half. Orrville scored on a touchdown run by Hostetler to start the 3rd quarter to go ahead 28-7. The Colts would answer as Porter Schmidt had a touchdown just over halfway through the 3rd quarter. The Red Riders would score again with just over 10 minutes left in the game and led 35-14 early in the 4th quarter. However, Clear Fork would rally and score two times on a Marcus Hoeflich pass to Nash Evans and a TD run by Ben Campbell. The Colts got the ball back and had a chance to tie the game, but a sack by Orrville helped them turn Clear Fork over on downs and the Red Riders held on for the win. Cam Craft accounted for 4 TDs ( 2 rushing and 2 passing) in the win. Orrville (7-4) now plays at Shelby (10-0) on Friday, Nov. 7th in the Regional quarterfinals.

  • High School Football - Week 10 - Ashland at Lexington - October 24th, 2025

    The Lexington Minutemen (9-1, 6-0 ) won the outright Ohio Cardinal Conference Championship on Friday with a thrilling 43-35 win at home over the Ashland Arrows (9-1, 5-1). It's the first league crown for Lex since 2016 and was the first loss of the year for Ashland, who was going to back-to-back league championships. Lexington got an amazing performance from Seven Allen, who had 3 TDs - a 25-yard TD run, 60 yard interception returned for a score and a 94 yard TD catch. Minutemen QB Joe Caudill ran for 3 scores too, as he found the endzone on a 3 yard run in the 1st half, but had two incredible runs down the sideline of 48 yards and 63 yards to fuel Lex to their 8th straight win to end the regular season. Ashland QB Nathan Bernhard ran for two scores and threw 3 TD passes, two to Gabe Baith and the other to Dakota Kruty in the loss. Next up: the playoffs for both teams, as the await the OHSAA to released the final computer points on Sunday.
