Bringing Community Together: First Responders, Flag Football, and Family Fun at Delaware County’s Biggest Event

Welcome to the very first episode of The Rescue Room, presented by SERVPRO of Delaware, OH and Nissan North Columbus! I’m your host, Hattie Hawks, and I couldn’t be more excited to kick off this journey with you. We dig into what it means to be a rescue for someone else—because at some point, we all need one.

I’m Hattie Hawks, your host, and I’m so glad to have you here. Presented by SERVPRO of Delaware, Ohio and Nissan North Columbus, this episode is all about honest conversations, celebrating resilience, and exploring how our community comes together when it matters most.

In today’s episode, I sit down with former UFC fighter Matt Brown, who shares his incredible journey from a small-town upbringing and addiction to making it to the top ranks in professional fighting. Matt opens up about how he rebuilt his body and mind, the power of self-love, and why his mission now is to support others—especially first responders—through his martial arts gym and holistic health approach.

We’re also joined by Sarah, who bravely shares her own story of overcoming obesity and reinventing her health with medical advancements like peptides and hormone therapy. She gives great insight into why these treatments are so important for our first responders and anyone struggling to thrive.

Amira from Custom Fundraising Solutions joins us to talk about her innovative mattress fundraiser, helping schools and those in need get better sleep—and a better start in life. And Becky, a dedicated social worker, shares ground-level stories about the realities faced by people who’ve lost their homes, explaining just how powerful community support can be.

This episode is close to my heart, because we cover so much—from mental health and physical healing, to the ways local businesses and individuals create safety nets for our most vulnerable neighbors. These are stories of true resilience, informed by personal experience, and fueled by the desire to lift each other up.
