• Isaac Doesn't Love the U.S. Healthcare System, but Loves The Ultimate Driving Machines
    Apr 9 2025

The Rating Show with Luther Palmer is back! This time, Isaac (or Izak, depending on the vibes) joins me to rate everything from Pad Thai and Joe Biden to BMWs and Curb Your Enthusiasm. We talk about our Taco Bell origins, why Monopoly might be more toxic than fun, the madness of the U.S. healthcare system, and what masculinity looks like in 2025.

It’s part thoughtful and part ridiculous — as usual. Tap in.

  • Derrick Hates Jordan 7s, Loves the 14th Amendment
    Jul 25 2022

Derrick starts the show by insulting his grandfather, but things improve after. He is an attourney, and asked him to rate the US Constitution, and then he explained the 14th amendment to me, and how it's been used to support abortion rights and gay marriage. He rated the current state of Major League Baseball, and we had a confusing conversation about peanut butter and jelly toast. Derrick is an Air Jordan officianato and reseller and describes some of his favorites and the most expensive.

  • Sheenah Hates Lactose-Free Ice Cream, Loves Chest Binders
    Jul 7 2022

Look... I try my best to keep these interviews to an hour, but that just wouldn't do this conversation justice. I had to let it roll because we talked about some very interesting topics. Sheenah went 10, 10, 10, 10 in the introduction and put us onto artist Vessna Scheff, who can be found on Instagram @vessnascheff. She also rates skydiving highly, even though she hasn't done it... yet. She rates Funions (remember those??), the possiblity of extra terrestrial life, and the idiom, "No pain, no gain."

Sheenah is a neuromuscular therapist, and rates the deep tissue massage, and talks to us about people confusing her for massages of a different kind "massage." Then we talk about her experience as the mother of a transgender child. I'm sure you will enjoy this conversation.

  • Denise Hates Camouflage, Loves Intermittent Fasting
    Jun 16 2022

Denise reveals that her name is associated with one of the worst puns of all time. And speaking of puns, my opening fact is pun-ishment of the highest order. Denise introduces us to the television show she enjoys named Pachinko, that she heard about on NPR's Fresh Air. We talk about open floor plans, the Wu Tang clan, Feng Shui, yoga, and red-bottom shoes. I also learn that Loubouton and Louis Vuitton are not the same person, even though their names sound similar when spoken quickly. And then Denise's rating of camouflage causes me to take off my host hat to tell her that she's wrong. I apologize to you, my audience, and to myself for taking such an extreme measure. Denise also rates being a stay-at-home mother, as she's lived that life in the past and has also been working the last few years. We also have a nice conversation about marriage, and marrying someone different than you - "Not bad or wrong, just different." And we talk about growth in marriage and how she learned to communicate more effectively. I really enjoyed this conversation.

  • Katrina Hates Sunday Mass, Loves Burpees
    Jun 1 2022

It turns out that Katrina isn't a popular name, and was perhaps made less popular by the hurricane. Go ahead, try to think of a famous Katrina. I'll give you two hints: walking and sunshine.

Katrina rates the Van Gogh Experience and tells us about her experience there. She rates nose rings, planking, and pumpkin spice, which she has to painstakingly explain to your uniformed host. I also get a lesson on the street value of genetic Percocet, and the abuse she tries to combat as a pharmacist. I also get Katrina to rate Sunday Mass, which hasn't been a good experience for her. I, of course, end up confessing to the sin of ridiculing confession. Lastly, after she rates burpees highly, we get into a very heated debate about how to rate things that you hate, but are good for you.

If you enjoy the show, leave me a rating on iTunes, tell a friend, follow the show on Instagram @theratingshow, and street tag "The Rating Show" on your office building. Legally, of course.

  • Jobina Hates Stuffed Crust Pizza, Loves Her Tummy Tuck
    May 27 2022

Jobina starts the show strong by choosing to rate a joke, and she specifically asked for a dumb joke. After the joke, I ask Jobina to rate her name on a scale from 1 to 10, and I know you're wondering what she said. And then in a plot twist, Jobina reveals that she recently learned her pre-adoption name, and rates that too. Jobina rates being 47, the great state of Texas (kinda), and then introduces us to the book Scythe, which is about a post-mortal world. This causes us to ponder briefly if a person who listens to an audio book can say they "read" the book. Jobina rates the Negro National Anthem, getting roses on Valentine's day, gardening, stuffed crust pizza, and the idiom, "The grass is always greener on the other side."

Jobina rates the Negro National Anthem, getting roses on Valentine's day, gardening, stuffed crust pizza, and the idiom, "The grass is always greener on the other side." On more personal notes, Jobina rates adoption and talks us through her finding her birth parents, and then what that relationship looks like now. Jobina also got a tummy tuck, rates elective cosmetic surgery, and describes why she made the decision. Lastly, Jobina rates marriage, and talks about how that rating changed from the end of her first marriage to the bliss she's enjoying now.

  • Chelsey Hates Chelsea, Loves Non Monogamy
    May 18 2022

I learned pretty early in our conversation that Chelsey has read all 98 pages of the leaked Supreme Court opinion on Roe vs. Wade twice. Spoiler alert: she don't like it! We also talk about more serious things, like her love of raisins and disdain for Brussels sprouts. Or did she hate raisins and love the sprouts? Chelsey also rates vaping, and then explains that non monogamy isn't so much about opening your legs, but opening your mouth... to communicate (I know what you were thinking!). Chelsey is an avid reader and rates one of the most iconic female authors, Jane Austen. And she patiently explains to me who the band AJR is.

  • Liliana Hates the Legal Drinking Age, Loves Latin Languages
    May 11 2022

Liliana tell us about taking the last plane back to the USA from Italy as the borders were closing due to COVID. We also talk in detail about bananas in smoothies, as she claims not to like bananas but yet puts them in smoothies all the time. Liliana thinks the legal drinking age in the USA is too high, and she was also potentially scammed on a mission trip by a resourceful young child in Kenya. She also rates Joseph R. Biden, Kim Kardashian, the creation story, the English language (she speaks several others), and the idiom, "It's the thought that counts."
