  • Oregon Weather 3/9 Morning - Winter Weather Advisory
    Mar 9 2026
Good morning. Oregon. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside right now and you're feeling 38 degrees. That's barely a degree warmer than overnight. Winter's hanging on with both hands — spring's just 11 days out, but someone forgot to tell the weather. A cold front is sliding down from the north, bringing scattered showers and a temperature drop as we push into tonight. The Willamette Valley sits in a bit of a rain shadow, so you'll dodge the worst of it. But the Coast Range and Cascades? They're catching everything. Portland and the Willamette Valley see rain showers through the afternoon with highs near 49 degrees. Tonight drops to 34 degrees. And here's where it gets interesting — rain could mix with snow after 2 A.M. As that cold air settles in. Southern Willamette Valley follows the same script, with a brief rain chance around 9 A.M. and highs near 49 degrees before cooling to 33 degrees overnight. Central Oregon stays mostly dry. Mostly sunny skies with a high near 44 degrees. Tonight drops to 24 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Cold air wins out there. The Cascades are under a Winter Weather Advisory through Tuesday afternoon. Snow's piling up at pass level — 4 to 10 inches expected with gusty winds to 40 miles an hour. If you're heading over the mountains, roads will be slick. Not the day to test your tires. Looking ahead. Tuesday brings more rain and snow showers statewide. Wednesday ramps up significantly — rain totals could hit 1 to 2 inches in the valleys, with heavy snow continuing in the mountains. The wet pattern holds through the weekend with temperatures in the low to mid 50s. Charge your phone and grab that rain jacket. See you this afternoon.

  • Oregon Weather 3/8 Midday - Winter Weather Advisory
    Mar 8 2026
Good afternoon. Oregon. I'm Matt Mullins. Step outside right now and you'll feel that late-winter chill hanging on. Currently 50 degrees under gray skies. But here's what's about to change. A cold front is sliding through. And it's bringing rain and a temperature drop. The Willamette Valley sees rain kicking in around noon. By this afternoon, you've got an 80 percent chance of showers with highs reaching 55 degrees before falling. West-southwest winds gust to 22 miles an hour — you'll feel that bite. Down in the Southern Willamette Valley, you stay mostly dry until after 2 P.M. That's when rain arrives, though chances stay lower at 40 percent. You top out at 58 degrees with lighter winds around 6 miles an hour. Now head east to Central Oregon. And it's a completely different day. Mostly sunny skies with highs near 58 degrees. West winds gust to 21, but you stay dry all day. Tonight, the cold air really settles in. The valley drops to 37 degrees with lingering rain showers likely through 9 P.M. Southern areas fall to 36. But Central Oregon? You plunge to 29 under mostly clear skies — then temperatures actually rise overnight to 34 as winds shift southwest. Here's your week ahead. Monday brings showers and thunderstorms to the valley — 100 percent chance with highs near 48. Snow mixes in Monday night as temps drop to 34. Tuesday stays unsettled with rain and snow showers, highs near 49. Mid-week turns active. Rain and snow Wednesday, heavy rain Thursday, then rain continues Friday. Highs hold in the low to mid-50s. By next weekend, rain chances ease to 50 percent Saturday with highs near 53. One more thing — clocks spring forward tonight. You lose an hour of sleep, but we're gaining daylight. Spring equinox is just 12 days away. See you this evening.

  • Oregon Weather 3/8 Morning - Wind Advisory
    Mar 8 2026
Good morning. Oregon. I'm Michael Nally. Step outside right now and you're feeling 46 degrees under clear skies. A cold front barrels statewide today, bringing rain and a temperature crash. The Willamette Valley gets hit first. Rain moves in around 8 A.M., peaking by mid-afternoon with an 80 percent chance. High of 55 degrees before temps fall to 53 by afternoon. Southwest winds 6 to 10 miles an hour, gusting to 22. Down in the Southern Willamette Valley, you stay drier longer. Rain holds off until around 2 P.M., then continues into midnight. High near 57 degrees. Central Oregon? Completely different day. Sunny skies, high of 58 degrees. Southwest winds 7 to 10 miles an hour with gusts to 21. Tonight drops to 29 degrees under mostly clear skies. Tonight across the Willamette Valley, rain continues before tapering to showers. Low around 37 degrees, though temps rise to 39 overnight as warmer air moves in. Monday brings the real drama. Showers and thunderstorms hit the Willamette Valley with near certainty. High of 48 degrees. Monday night, cold air plunges in and snow levels crash to around 1,500 feet. Rain and snow showers likely, with lows dropping to 34 degrees. Tuesday stays active with rain and snow showers mixing through the morning before transitioning to rain by afternoon. High near 49 degrees. The week ahead stays wet. Wednesday through Friday brings multiple rounds of rain, with snow mixing in at higher elevations. Highs hold in the low to mid-50s. Saturday offers a brief break with just a chance of rain. One more thing — clocks spring forward one hour tonight. You lose an hour of sleep, but we gain daylight. Sunrise tomorrow at 7:37 A.M., sunset at 7:08 P.M. See you this afternoon.

  • Oregon Weather 3/7 Evening - Cloudy Cool-Down Confusion
    Mar 8 2026
Good evening. Oregon. I'm Michael Nally. That gray sky overhead? It's just the opening act. We're sitting at 58 degrees across the Willamette Valley right now—about 23 degrees warmer than usual for early March. But don't get too comfortable. A weak front slides in tomorrow, setting the stage for Monday's main event: a crash in snow levels all the way down to 1,000 feet. Rain returns tonight, becoming steady by 6 P.M. In Portland. Down in the Southern Valley, showers arrive earlier, closer to 1 P.M. Today's pleasant warmth near 57 takes a hard tumble into the 30s by Sunday night. That sets up a wild swing for Monday—rain showers in the valleys, but snow mixing in after dark. If you're heading east over the passes, chain up early. The Cascades are about to get hammered, with 8 to 14 inches piling up by Tuesday. Central Oregon gets the best deal today. Bend hits 59 degrees under mostly sunny skies. But even there, the chill returns Monday with overnight lows near 23. Looking ahead. Sunday brings widespread rain and falling temperatures. Monday and Tuesday feature that dramatic drop—snow levels near 1,500 feet mean the mountains get pounded while the valleys see flurries. We rebound slightly by midweek, but another round of rain and mountain snow moves in before we dry out by Friday. Spring is technically two weeks away, but winter is demanding an encore. Grab that umbrella today. And keep the shovel within reach. See you tomorrow.
