About this listen

Your two hosts of this podcast work as professional guides in the Alaskan outdoor tourism industry and started this podcast as a fun way to keep busy during the pandemic summer of 2020. With uncertainty in what employment might look like, Danny and Andrew still wanted to share the beauty of Alaska with people and this podcast was a good way to achieve that goal. Alaska is an incredible place everybody should put on their destination bucket list. Each episode opens with a beer review highlighting a local Alaskan brewery and then tackles a different topic relating to what makes Alaska such a unique place in the world. With all the fun being had drinking Alaskan brews and sharing fascinating information about the Last Frontier State, what started as a fun short term project has morphed into a long term endeavor. With this decision, investments were made in much better production equipment and the sound quality drastically improves starting in Phase II of the podcast with Episode 17 (Feb 21, 2021 release date). We hope you enjoy the content and strongly encourage you to visit Alaska in the future!

  • An Alaskan Thanksgiving Feast
    Nov 23 2025

Traditional Thanksgiving dishes have historically been hard to come by in the Last Frontier. And with plenty of the state not living on the road system, Thanksgiving meals often don't look like the ones many of us grew up with. Join us on today's episode as we take a look at several common Thanksgiving food items and discuss what their Alaskan counterpart might be. What could possibly replace a turkey? What type of pie would be for dessert? And why won't you find corn at our dinner table?! It's the episode that'll make you hungry!

  • The Northwest Passage
    Nov 9 2025

For centuries, many explorers tempted fate to embark on a mission to find the fabled Northwest Passage connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans north above Canada and Alaska. We have eye witness testimony that the passage exists as Andrew has returned in one piece to tell his tale. Join us on a journey on today's episode as we highlight the historic significance of the Northwest Passage and delve into Andrew's recent journey far above the Arctic Circle. Who was the first explorer to successfully navigate the Northwest Passage? How many years did that expedition take versus how long does it take today? And how the heck do you pronounce the name Roald Amundsen?! It's the episode you'll listen to while drinking a pumpkin spiced latte!

We continue our Halloween tradition of blending the Last Frontier and Dungeons & Dragons universes. Every good D&D campaign has a good monster to combat and a clever dungeon to navigate.
