    Aug 29 2025

With Matt returning from International Beatles Week in Liverpool and Nick coming back from Portsmouth's Victorious Festival, we just have the one show this week.

However, in this edition of FPL Bridge Brothers, the lads review where things went wrong in game week 2, acknowledge the moments where their tactics worked well and make plans ahead of the upcoming Premier League fixtures this Saturday.

While Matt is considering a couple of adjustments, Nick is bringing in the Wildcard in an attempt to overhaul his squad and get back on track.

The deadline to make your FPL changes is: 11:00am, (Blighty Time), on Saturday the 30th of August.

  • FPL Bridge Brothers: Analysis and Next Steps
    Aug 20 2025

With the dust nearly settled from game week one, Matt and Nick compare the performances of their respective teams with the older of the two siblings drawing first blood with an impressive score of 73. However, with Matt looking to patch up his defence after Villa defender Konsa's red card, there's still plenty of opportunities for Nick to get his revenge in game week 2.

There's praise for Sunderland, who turned up to declare war, and criticism for West Ham who Nick thinks could be in trouble alongside Wolves who will be licking their wounds from their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City. The Hammers' dreadful performance against the Black Cats sees Matt question how West Ham were framed as title contenders in the third season of Ted Lasso.

    Speaking of Game Week 2...

The upcoming deadline is this Friday the 22nd of August at 18:30.

  • The Bridge Brothers Podcast: Does it still pay to be loyal in football?
    Aug 19 2025

Matt and Nick open the show by discussing AFC Croydon's progression in the FA Cup at the expense of resilient Tooting and Mitcham. Alongside recounting the Rams' victory against the Terrors, Nick also talks about his trip to see the "Boys from the Crem" take on Merstham FC.

The lads then go all Premier League as Nick recounts his trip to Chelsea FC for the Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour as well his match day experience of the Blues' 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

The brothers then talk about their topic of the week. Inspired by stand-off between Alexander Isak and Newcastle United, Matt and Nick try and answer the question: "does it still pay to be loyal in football these days?" They start by answering this quandary more generally but then focus on the situation at St. James' Park, where Nick stands up for the Swedish centre forward and says that he is entitled to be ambitious, whereas Matt is more on the side of the Magpies given that Isak has signed a six year contract with three years left to go.

  • FPL Bridge Brothers: The Premier League Returns
    Aug 13 2025

Matt and Nick reconvene to discuss their teams ahead of game week one in the Premier League.

From goal-keepers to their forward lines, the lads go through their squads as their FPL rivalry resumes. Will Matt regret selecting Martin Dúbravka? Will Lewis-Skelley come good for Nick and does Granit Xhaka look like Super-Man? Give us a listen to find out more.

One slight correction is that Matt did mention that Joachim Andersen previously played for Brentford, whereas it was, of course, Crystal Palace.

Remember, the upcoming deadline is this Friday the 15th of August at 18:30.

  • The Bridge Brothers Podcast: Can You Support More Than One Club?
    Aug 13 2025

The Bridge Brothers begin this episode by discussing the fall-out from Crystal Palace's unsuccessful appeal to be reinstated into the UEFA Europa League. Needless to say, as a Croydon resident, Nick isn't happy with the outcome.

Discussions of local sides and the question of multi-club ownership also prompts the lads to discuss the question: "can you support more than one football club?" This is a quandary that was inspired by Matt and Nick's affection for AFC Wimbledon, AFC Croydon and Tooting and Mitcham.

The lads also swing by a few tangents including Matt's efforts to be a UN Ambassador through the medium of football kits, their newfound Millwall fans following and the iconic Blackburn Rovers title winning team.

One note of correction is that the brothers state that Nick and Dad will be visiting the Mayfield Stadium to see AFC Croydon VS Merstham however, in the end, the game was held Merstham's Hybrid Stadium.

  • FPL Bridge Brothers: Selection Headaches
    Aug 7 2025

In the first episode of FPL Bridge Brothers, the lads talk through their early efforts at assembling their squads with Matt going for the big names and Nick taking a, slightly more nuanced approach.

Some of Matt's inspiration comes from the 59th Minute Pod as well as FPL Denis, whereas Nick is putting his together based on his efforts to follow the pre-season friendlies.

The ending gets a bit lively as Nick responds to one of our listeners comments, but we still encourage you all to engage with us as we begin another FPL campaign.

  • The Bridge Brothers Podcast: Pre-season Friendly
    Aug 7 2025

Matt and Nick cover a range of subjects in this first episode of The Bridge Brothers Podcast.

The lads begin with more discussion about the Lionesses Euro 2025 success with Chelsea's Hannah Hampton and Arsenal's Chloe Kelly being lined up for recognition in the New Years' Honours list.

They then turn to AFC Croydon's progress in the FA Cup and talk about the prospects of the Rams defeating their next opponent, the mighty Tooting and Mitcham. This promises to be a hotly contested South London derby as the boys from the Crem take on the Terrors!

Conversation them turns to West London where the brothers talk about the Chelsea men's team's transfer window and the pod reaches it's conclusion as they go from the Blue's billions to the financial travails of Morecambe and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.
