Have you ever watched open water swimmers glide through the waves at sunrise and thought, I should be out there? Same. As someone who’s been swimming most of my life, I often feel the pull of the ocean—but also the comfort of just being at the shoreline, soaking in the peace and calm.

In this episode, I’m joined by my longtime friend and fellow swimmer, Jenn Yorzyk- Triger. Jenn and I swam together in college in the mid-80s, and while we lost touch after graduation, we reconnected in 2020—thank you, Facebook! While many of us were riding the pandemic struggle bus, Jenn was out there sharing workouts, mindset tips, and daily doses of motivation.

Jenn’s love for open-water swimming has never faded (it has to be in her DNA—her father, Bill Yorzyk, was an Olympic gold medalist!). She brings so much wisdom, energy, and inspiration to this conversation, whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just thinking about dipping a toe back in.

Welcome back, beach lovers — it’s May, and after a whole month of springtime activity, I’m finally back behind the mic! In this episode, I share the story of my recent beach adventure to the breathtaking Gulf Coast of Florida — Longboat Key, to be exact — where the clear blue-green water, soft white sand, and Mediterranean-inspired resort vibes offered a much-needed reset.

This trip had it all: sunshine, coastal breezes, a luxurious oceanfront suite, and even an unexpected selfie moment at a VIP reception. I take you behind the scenes of our long weekend getaway — from poolside lounging and moonlit beach walks to discovering a rare and fascinating marine treasure: the egg casing of a lightning whelk (yes, I Googled it!). Along the way, I reflect on how springtime at the beach brings a sense of growth, clarity, and calm, even in the midst of life’s chaos.

You’ll also hear about a special project I’ve been working on with my friend Jim from Sahu Sacred Oils — a custom essential oil spray called Beach Speaks.
