James Kennedy has gone by the alter ego The 28 Year Old Male for the last decade sharing his observations on the world through absurdity and a decade-long midlife crisis. Why I love Test cricket, the politicisation trap trying to kill our shared moments, and how Love Actually is actually a dangerous terrorist movie but also test cricket.

  • Is Ben Stokes a Mean Girl?
    Jan 6 2026

It's been quite the summer, I've been... busy? So I think it's worthy of a quick check in in the wake of Englands Ashes utter capitulation and attempt to explain how it all looked through my eyes.

It's Mean Girls, it's KFC food court dackings, it's pure. I've missed you all. Enjoy the rant.

Every like, comment, share, download or subscription helps me keep this thing going. Thank you for continuing to support the depths of my midlife crisis and keeping our thing going.

  • Ep 24: In the Ring with Michael Zerafa
    Sep 9 2025

We finally got him! After months of "ducking" each other, we sat down with Australia's most polarising and misunderstood boxer Michael Zerafa for an unfiltered conversation recorded literally inside the ring at his 13 Rounds Boxing Gym between training sessions.

Fresh off his clinical first round TKO dismantling of Mikey Dahlman in Sydney last month, where he captured the WBO Inter Continental Middleweight title in under two minutes, Zerafa let's us in on who he really is. From sending a MySpace message to Anthony Mundine at 15 years old promising to end his career (and then actually doing it), to his thoughts on rivals' eating habits, to the deeper misunderstandings that have shaped his public persona, Zerafa holds nothing back.

Vedran and I discovered someone who's as willing to go to war for people who show him the respect he very clearly shows others (ourselves included) as he is unforgiving to those who cross him. Maybe we're similar in that sense.

You'll see a funny, insightful bloke who's developed some seriously interesting perspectives through a career of hard work, controversy, and an unwavering belief in himself that I think most people just don't understand.

With his upcoming training camp against Nikita Tszyu on the horizon (which we'll be documenting), this conversation captures Zerafa exactly where he is: still hungry, still confident, still completely himself. In his own words: "The best of Michael Zerafa is still to come".
