25 años antes de que ejecutaran a Sócrates, Aristófanes presentó una comedia cuyo objeto de burla era ningún otro que el padre de la filosofía.
En la comedia, se acusa a Sócrates de corromper a la juventud y de rechazar a los dioses, cargos que, curiosamente fueron los mismos que se le imputaron al filósofo en su juicio real.
La comedia tiene algo de profecía, y en Las Nubes de Aristófanes, podemos ver no sólo la muerte de Sócrates, sino la del mundo griego en general… sin embargo, también el presagio de algo nuevo.
