  • Ohio State-Miami Cotton Bowl Preview 2.0! Major Keys, Game Picks, CFP Preview, Whitt in Ann Arbor
    Dec 28 2025
On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT: A Podcast on THE Ohio State Buckeyes, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes break down the highly anticipated Cotton Bowl matchup between Ohio State and the Miami Hurricanes. First, a quick welcome to all of our new Miami Hurricanes fans. We see you in the comments and appreciate you watching, engaging, and joining the conversation. While we believe Ohio State has the edge, there is plenty of respect for Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes program. May the best team win. As discussed last week, Ryan Day taking over play-calling cannot be overstated. Will Ohio State’s offense bounce back after sputtering in the Big Ten Championship loss to Indiana, or will the Buckeyes stick to the same script? No pun intended. How can Ohio State win? How can Miami pull off the upset? The guys break down the major keys to the game on both sides of the ball. Be sure to also check out last week’s episode for a more in-depth preview—and don’t forget to drop your thoughts in the comments. Later, thanks to our friends at Dr Pepper, we take a look at the rest of the bowl slate. If Ohio State gets past Miami, they’ll face the winner of Georgia vs. Ole Miss. Who would you rather see the Buckeyes play next? We also preview Big Ten champion Indiana vs. Alabama in the Rose Bowl, plus Oregon vs. Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl. Who do you have winning each matchup? Let us know. Finally, thanks to our friends at Buckeye Basement Solutions, the guys react to Michigan’s surprising hire of Kyle Whittingham. After years of turmoil in Ann Arbor, how did Michigan land a coach of that caliber? Make sure to like, subscribe, and join the conversation in the comments. • Ohio State vs. Miami Cotton Bowl Preview! Fixing the CFP and Michigan Still Messy | The Script
    Dec 24 2025
On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT: A Podcast on THE Ohio State Buckeyes, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes break down the upcoming Cotton Bowl matchup between Ohio State and the Miami Hurricanes, a familiar postseason foe. Previously, Beanie and Cardale said they would rather face Miami than Texas A&M. After the Hurricanes’ gritty road win at Texas A&M, has that opinion changed? We break it all down — and hit the comments to let us know where you stand. How does Miami match up against the best team in the country? Can the Hurricanes’ pass rush disrupt Ohio State’s offense? Will the Buckeyes be able to run the ball against a physical Miami defensive line? And how will Miami quarterback Carson Beck fare against one of the top defenses in college football? Cardale, Beanie, and Dave analyze every angle. We also discuss Ohio State’s extended layoff — 25 days without a game — and whether that much time off could lead to rust. Plus, what impact will Ryan Day taking over offensive play-calling have on the Buckeyes’ game plan? Later in the episode, we flash back to the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, one of the greatest games in college football history. Where were you when Ohio State stunned Miami with an unforgettable comeback? Thanks to our friends at Dr Pepper, we take a look around the College Football Playoff landscape. James Madison and Tulane were blown out, while Notre Dame — one of the best teams in the country — was left at home. With help from Buckeye Basement Solutions, we try to fix what’s broken in the CFP. We also dive into the latest chaos surrounding Michigan’s coaching search. What’s next for the Wolverines, and will they land a big-name hire? Finally, we provide an update on prized recruit Legend Bey, who officially signed with Ohio State last week following a tumultuous recruitment. Be sure to tune in Saturday when we make our official game picks for the Cotton Bowl. Drop your comments, reactions, and predictions below — and don’t forget to subscribe! • Michigan Mess: What’s Next for the Team Up North? OSU Awards & Wild NIL Recruiting Stories
    Dec 17 2025
On this week’s episode of THE SCRIPT: A Podcast on THE Ohio State Buckeyes, Cardale Jones, Beanie Wells, and host Dave Holmes break down the ongoing mess at Michigan. While there’s no shortage of rivalry between Ohio State and the team up north, the conversation takes a serious turn as the Sherrone Moore situation escalates. The guys discuss the story respectfully, acknowledging that real lives have been impacted and that this goes far beyond jokes or rivalry banter. They examine how Moore’s decisions could have ripple effects well beyond Michigan, potentially costing others opportunities in the process. Thanks to our friends at Dr Pepper, the show then pivots to a broader look around college football, starting with last weekend’s Heisman ceremony. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin was a finalist but didn’t take home the trophy. However, the bigger controversy centers on Buckeyes wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who won Big Ten Receiver of the Year honors but somehow lost the Biletnikoff Award for the nation’s best wide receiver to USC’s Makai Lemon — another Big Ten player. The guys break down the head-scratching decision and why it still doesn’t add up. Shoutout to Caleb Downs who took home the award for the best DB in the country. With most programs now in offseason mode, recruiting has ramped up following National Signing Day. In the era of NIL, there are plenty of success stories — but also some cautionary tales. One of those is the recruitment of Legend Bey. Bey initially signed with Tennessee before requesting and receiving a release, reopening his recruitment with Ohio State expected to be involved. Cardale, Beanie, and Dave unpack what happened, with Cardale sharing candid insight — and some wild examples — from the recruiting and NIL world. Later in the show, and thanks to our friends at Buckeye Basement Solutions, the guys hit several other major football topics, including Marcus Freeman’s name popping up in NFL coaching rumors. Urban Meyer has already weighed in, but should Freeman stay at Notre Dame or make the jump to the NFL? The conversation continues with former Buckeyes defensive coordinator Jim Knowles landing another job just one year after winning a national title in Columbus. The guys also react to NFL news, including Cardale’s former teammate Philip Rivers coming out of retirement in Indianapolis. The episode wraps with some lighter moments, sharing stories about playing football in brutal cold-weather conditions like we’ve seen across the country.
