QH Racing Talk–Weekly welcomes the most accomplished female jockey in Quarter Horse Racing history, Hall of Fame jockey Tami Purcell-Burklund to discuss her success throughout her career.

In Episode 74, host Greg Thompson chats with Purcell-Burklund about the origins of her career as a jockey, multiple legendary horses she had the pleasure to be aboard, as well as reaching the pinnacle of the sport with wins in both the All American Futurity(G1) and the Champion of Champions(G1).

Episode 74 also gets Hall of Fame racing analyst Tom Dawson, and Yancye Guymon to talk about their takeways from the previous weekend of trial races in Albuquerque for the All American Futurity (G1), All American Derby (G1), and All American Oaks (G1) . Guymon also joins Thompson to preview upcoming AQHA Challenge events at Praire Meadows in Iowa, as well as a look at the upcoming Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park.

QH Racing Talk–Weekly welcomes this weeks featured guests, Cole Morehead of Royal Vista Ranch and Marbella Tirado of Rancho El Cabresto, to discuss the upcoming Fuego Stallion Incentive Program, as well as the Fuego championships in 2028.

In this episode, host Greg Thompson talk with both Tirado and Morehead about the inception of this program, the dynamics and layout of how the program works, the fee schedules, as well as the basis of which the program originated and developed from.

Morehead and his wife, Marijo, purchased the farm in July of 2022 and immediately began plans for growth and expansion while carrying on the long established legacy of Royal Vista Ranches. Today, Royal Vista Ranch, LLC (RVR) is committed to moving the quarter horse industry forward with a focus on racing and rodeo performance horse breeding and sales prep.

Marbella Tirado is a part of Rancho El Cabresto, which is family owned by the Tirado family, who concentrate in the industry on sales prep, as well as being the owner of both legendary sires Apollitical Jess, and two of his sons Apollitical Blood and Apollitical J Streak. Both Apollitical Jess and Apollitical J Streak stand at Royal Vista Ranch in Wayne, Oklahoma, while Apollitical Blood stands in Louisiana at Robicheaux Ranch, Inc. in Breaux Bridge.

Episode 73 also dives extensively into the upcoming trials of All American Futurity, Derby and Oaks. Racing analyst Yancye Guymon and Greg Thompson discuss the two-days of trials of the All American Futurity(G1), as well as the top runners heading into the trials of both the All American Derby(G1) and All American Oaks(G1). With the fastly approaching eight-day summer meet of Sandy Ridge in Ashland, Kentucky on the horizon, KyQHRA President Christina Sowders comes onto the podcast to make a huge announcement about the national television coverage that the upcoming meet will receive on Fox Sports. Sowders also discusses some of the challenges faced with Quarter Horse racing in Kentucky, as well as critics of the Kentucky Quarter Horse racing program.
