  • Future of the Show
    Oct 6 2025

Hey! We finally figured it out! Thank you so much for bearing with us as we worked to figure out exactly how we wanted to move forward and whether we wanted to move forward. Having Joe leave us was sad...wait, like "leave us" as in the show -- he's still alive. We talk. He just isn't recording at 1am with us any more. Point is, it was sad but we've found a way I think we can still continue and make it work.

Take a listen to all the things here and let us know what you think. If you have thoughts you'd like to share with us you can send them to somewhereonthescreen@gmail.com

  • Episode 10 - Listers
    Oct 1 2025

As we continue to discuss how to proceed, we wanted to take a moment to discuss a documentary that has sprung out of nowhere to take us into the shocking world of...BIRD WATCHING!!!

We decided to talk about a new, documentary that's been making it's way across the internet called Listers. Is a facinating film about two brothers who, stoned out of their mind one day, decide to take up bird watching at the highest and most competitive level...and film it. What follows is the most amazing look into what can seem like America's dullest passtime.

You can find the film on Youtube HERE for free and then we encourage you to listen and share your thoughts. Especially if there are any birders out there who can really put this into perspective for us, send us an email at somewhereonthescreen@gmail.com

  • Episode 9 - The Toxic Avenger (2023)
    Sep 10 2025

Oof...y'all. It's been a week. First and foremost, we want to apologize for the brevity of this capstone episode for our Toxic Avenger cycle. If you've been with us through all of this, you've put a lot of time into waiting for our thoughts on this episode and we're coming up short for you. Between some technical issues and emotional issues stemming from the news at the top of the episode, it was just a tough recording session. We apologize and promise to return to our usual extra long episode full of raving rants and pseudointellectual gobbldegook. In the meantime, here's Toxie...

If you don't know about the Toxic Cursaders, it's an early-90's children's cartoon about the Toxic Avenger. How does it play into the upcoming release of Toxic Avenger (2023)? Who knows! But we're going to find out how it plays into the history of the Toxic Avenger!

  • Episode 7 - The Toxic Avenger (1984)
    Aug 13 2025

Are you ready for a hideously deformed monster of superhuman size and strength! Well have I got good news for you! This week we're discussing The Toxic Avenger (1984) to see the origins of our choice for our second cycle!

As we build toward the release of The Toxic Avenger (2023...yes, that's correct) we wanted to see where the series began and boy oh boy did we. This...this is a movie. Yup. It's a movie alright. I...I don't know what else to write here. Is it the world's most offensive piece of trash or a B-movie masterpiece? The guys discuss and come to some shocking conclusions.

  • Episode 6 - Cyrano
    Aug 4 2025

And we're back at it! For our second cycle we're going to be prepping for upcoming release of The Toxic Avenger! It's a remake of the 1980's cult classic of the same name about -- and stop me if you've heard this before -- gets super-powers from toxic waste. I think? I haven't seen it yet. You'd think that maybe we'd start with the orignal film but what fun is that? Instead we're starting with...

...Cyrano! As The Toxic Avenger is starring Peter Dinkledge Joe decided to have us watch the breadthe of this man's acting talents. Sure, you likely know him as Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones but did you know he played Cyrano de Bergerac? In a musical? Yeah...we're going there.

  • Patron Bonus Episode - Second Hand Lions
    Jul 30 2025

Due to some personal things going on behind the scenes we weren't able to record our episode for this week. We're recording it tonight though and so we'll be back on track for our next episode! In the meantime, we thought we'd share a fun episode we did for our patrons! One of our Patreon tiers offers patrons the chance to choose a show for us to cover each cycle. During our first cycle they chose the film Second Hand Lions, a feel-good...I'm gonna call it a comedy?...about a young man living with two old men with gold.

    *checks notes*

Yep...that's about it. I think Joe missed this episode but Nick and Chris went on a tangent that really instilled the importance of having Joe around. Check it out and if you enjoy, consider supporting us on Patreon.com/Somewhereonthescreen

  • Episode 5 - Superman (2025)
    Jul 16 2025

It's finally here! Superman has been released in theaters, we've studied, prepared, and watched the film while a bunch of teenagers kicked the back of our chairs! We are officially ready to discuss the official beginning of the DCCU!

We open this week's discussion with a brief (20ish minute) spoiler-free discussion of our thoughts on the film so if you haven't seen it yet and are simply looking to find out if it's "for you" then feel free to pop in and see what we thought. After that 20 minute mark, though, it's a no-holds-barred (and immediately spoils the only actual "revelation" in the film.

Come join us while we discuss everything from whether we thing Lex Luthor ever steps off a green-screen, if the film avoids the fate of The Mummy (2017), and whether Rachel Brosnahan is most or least attractive member of this pretty people only film (I'm not proud of this part of the conversation...but it did happen).
