He has been an advisor to government committees since 1999 and has advocated for self-sufficiency in electronics. He chaired a Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITY) task force that made recommendations for India's electronics policy. He is a member of several committees and was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2011. As Chairperson of NIFFT Ranchi, he transformed it into the National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing, driving Industry 4.0 innovations. Additionally, he helped create the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) to prepare India's workforce for the future.
