  • Pinball Magazine & Pinball News PINcast July 2025 recap
    Aug 1 2025

After the recent flurry of new game announcements, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News begin this month’s Pinball Industry News PINcast with two re-releases of existing titles.

Stern Pinball have gone back to revisit their Jaws and Star Wars games. In the case of Jaws it’s a blood-red treatment for a new 50th Anniversary Edition of the Premium model, while their Star Wars Home Edition gets a ‘Plus’ upgrade and a price cut as it goes on sale in selected Costco stores in the US.

As last month, the third new game announcement is for Multimorphic’s P3 pinball platform. Row Mania, from Neil Wilson, uses the Drained playfield module in an EM-inspired mini game which is available to download right now.

Also working on their next title was game designer, Jack Danger. However, he’s stepped back from that project to become Stern’s new Head of Community, in which role he will create multi-platform promotional material, act as Stern’s brand ambassador and return to game streaming both for Stern and under his own Dead Flip channel brand.

After the success of their Evil Dead title, Spooky Pinball are now looking to hire a new software developer. There’s also production updates and news of when we might expect their next game to be announced.

Another pinball manufacturer working on a new title is Hexa Pinball in France. They’ve got their team back together to build the first prototype of the follow-up to Space Hunt.

Barrels of Fun are planning a rerun of their own. This time though it’s a repeat of the factory tour they held at the Houston Arcade Expo last year. Visitors to this year’s show get the opportunity to take the tour and see how they build the Dune game.

The topper for Dutch Pinball Exclusive’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was already pretty impressive, but now game owners can enhance it further with a new topper expansion kit from The Electric Playground.

Meanwhile, there’s news about the ‘other’ Alice in Wonderland game, this time from Wonderland Amusements who have been showing off their new production-quality moulded playfield components. They have big plans for Pinball Expo in October and even hope to be shipping games by then.

Although it’s a relatively quiet month, there’s still plenty more industry news to report, along with details of the new features added with the latest code updates.

    Jun 6 2025

This month’s PINcast was held back for a few days to bring you the very latest news and an exclusive interview. So, join Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News as they bring you all the excitement from the pinball industry throughout May and the first few days of June in the latest Pinball Industry News PINcast.

It’s taken ten years to come to fruition, but finally Jersey Jack Pinball were able to release their Harry Potter game. The reaction has been hugely positive, but there are still many unknowns about just what’s in the game and the story of its creation.

So, Jonathan and Martin interview Jersey Jack Pinball’s founder, and the man who secured the licence widely thought to be unobtainable, Jack Guarnieri. Jack explains the steps he had to take to get all the assets for all the movies, what the game means to Jersey Jack Pinball, the reason for the delayed reveal, what’s in the game, how it is going to be built, why they chose to offer three different models, and much more about this new Harry Potter game, including where you can play it.

  • Pinball Magazine & Pinball News PINcast April 2025 recap
    May 2 2025

It’s the battle of the big beasts this month with two mammoth new game launches and a third poised to be revealed. So, Jonathan from Pinball Magazine and Martin from Pinball News are back to bring you all the details in April’s Pinball Industry News PINcast.

The first beast into the arena was the Sandworm from Barrels of Fun’s new Dune game. Based on the 2021 and 2024 Dune movies, the second release from the Houston-based manufacturer comes fully loaded with extensive cinematic assets as well as a new Horizon Atmospheric Lighting system, anti-reflective glass, a shaker motor and even a topper.

Facing off against the Sandworm is the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’ in the form of Stern Pinball’s new King Kong: Myth of Terror Island. The story of King Kong has been reimagined for Stern’s latest cornerstone game which features an animated Kong being summoned by a swinging gong. Kong wreaks havoc, of course, aided by a giant spider as he blocks the balls and smashes a subway car to release the locked balls inside.

The third beast is the elephant-in-the-room that is Jersey Jack Pinball’s upcoming Harry Potter game. With manufacturing already underway at the company’s Elk Grove Village factory, what will be the impact when we get the official release, expected later this month?

Also looming large over the industry is the effect of trade tariffs – imposed, planned or threatened. Pinball manufacturers are taking their own approaches to the price increases on buying components and shipping complete games, while others are taking a wait-and-see approach. With some cuts in production already announced or anticipated, Jonathan and Martin look at who’s doing what, and what it means for the wider market.

There are also current production updates, along with news of some people leaving their posts and others being appointed to new positions.

Plus, there are new code updates, of course, as well as some new products and limited-time special offers you won’t want to miss.

Also in this month’s PINcast, Jonathan and Martin swap the pinball table for the dinner table to find out What’s Cooking with… legendary game designer, Steve Ritchie. Steve spills the beans on his favourite recipes, so you too can eat like a King.
