  • 98. How Fresh is Your Press Release with Dawn Jones
    May 21 2024
Today we chat with PR company owner Dawn Jones. We hear her story of growing from fiddle player to fiddling with promotion as an intern to full-on “one stop shop” for artists with her company, Pressed PR. We break down tracking results and what it means to be ready for PR.

Dawn Jones is the founder of music promotion house, Pressed PR. Deeply rooted in the music industry, Pressed PR was originally founded as a passion project that would empower other independent artists to succeed. Dawn wanted to develop a modern company that embodied the essence of intentional, personal, and innovative marketing with a team that displayed the strongest work ethic for their artists. Named one of “The 10 Best Indie Music Promotion Services That Are Worth It” by Two Story Melody, her team has worked on a variety of campaigns ranging from independent artists just starting out to celebrity artists with millions of fans. Pressed PR’s clientele has landed in the pages of Billboard, Forbes, Huffington Post, Esquire, American Songwriter, and many more.

There is so much to say about Dawn and what she has been able to create but we will let her tell the story of her journey to building an impressive resource for musicians to get their music into the right places so that their music will be heard and not lost in the woods. Let's go!

  • 97. I'm the Problem, It's Me.
    May 14 2024
Welcome to Musicians Tip Jar where we talk about musicians and money. Where we have been unintentionally quoting Taylor Swift for years. Hi I’m the problem, it's me, Chris Webb, joined by my co-host and front desk attendant at the tortured poets department, Dave Tamkin.

“Being fearless is having a lot of fears, but you jump anyway” - Taylor Swift

Limiting beliefs among musicians can be all over the place depending on individual experiences, backgrounds, and aspirations. However, here is our list of the top ten most common. Our hope is to help you identify how you may in fact be holding yourself back for the very goals you desire.

    Action:
    1. Identify the biggest limitation you are holding on to and write it down in the opposite as an affirmation. This shit works. If you don’t believe me, try it and see. What do you have to lose!?

** We know how valuable your time is, we appreciate you for spending this time with us and being a part of this community. It is our hope that you feel that sense of community here at musicians Tip Jar and help us spread the word to make us stronger together.

As always, Thanks for joining us and remember, there is already enough for everyone, you just need to know how to get it. Until next time, on behalf of Dave Tamkin and myself, Chris Webb. Stay happy, healthy and wealthy. It’s not what you are singing that determines your life, but what you are whispering to yourself that holds the power. This is Musicians Tip Jar.

  • 96. How to Find Your Place Using Your Passions with Andy Sydow
    May 7 2024
Today we conclude our interview with Singer/Songwriter, Andy Sydow, and focus on how the journey is often full of small destinations that just lead you to the next path. You don’t need to just pick one thing and do only that, in fact, as small business owners and creatives, we always run our legs in different directions to build our passions. It is through this process and pursuit that we find our main goals often come into clearer focus.#finance Songwriting with Soldiers believes that together, we can empower veterans through music.

In a few short years, SongwritingWith:Soldiers has worked with more than 1,000 veterans, active-duty members, and military families in 80+ retreats around the country. Over 1,000 extraordinary songs have been written. These songs have helped participants share their experiences with families, friends, co-workers, and communities. SW:S makes the songs available across the nation through concerts, downloads, and social media, raising awareness and bridging the military/civilian divide LEarn More at songwritingwithsoldiers.org

Write down your journey so far in ten bullets or less. Try identify each bullet as a path you journeyed and then at the bottom in one short sentence write what your main goal is. Andy very clearly stated his was to make a full time living off his original music. Write yours down and put it somewhere were you can revisit this vision every so often to check in.
