• Hope for the Prodigal Years | Karla Slonaker & Jaclyn St. John
    Mar 16 2026
“I am so thankful for my daughter’s prodigal years. They changed me from being arrogant, self-righteous and judgmental into a reflection of our Heavenly Father.” What a precious reminder that not only can God bring transformation in our children’s lives as we pray for them, but He also molds and shapes us into who He created us to be! Today we hear from a mother and daughter as they share their journey through the prodigal years and how the power and hope of prayer sustained them. The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. As I learned about MIP, I knew God was drawing me to prayer. I have benefited in so many ways, including learning the character of God and how to pray; having sincere, available prayer support, and experiencing hope and blessing while raising a prodigal teenager. Proverbs 3:5-6 is so true…”trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Now this daughter, Jaclyn, prays in a MIP group for her children and serves the ministry in her area and on our state team.My husband Fred and I have been married for 41 years. We have three adult children with spouses and nine grandchildren. We raised our family in Wenatchee, Washington and now live near them all in Meridian, Idaho. I heard God’s Spirit call me in March 2023 to serve the women of Idaho as State Coordinator for MIP. It is a huge blessing to support, train, develop leadership across this state as we pray and fast for the salvation of students. In addition to prayer ministry, I mentor young women of all ages and enjoy a variety of crafting projects.Jaclyn St. JohnI live in Meridian, Idaho with my husband, Cody and our children, Chloe (10) and Jaxon (7), plus two dogs and a cat! By profession, I am a Registered Dietitian with Dairy West but my most meaningful roles are as a devoted daughter, wife, sister, granddaughter, aunt, and friend who deeply values the people God has placed in my life.I have a passion for health and wellness that carries into both my professional work and everyday life. I enjoy nourishing others through nutritious food, healthy living, and spending quality time with family. Through laughter, movement and shared meals, I believe in celebrating life’s blessings and caring well for the people around me. It has been my privilege the last three years to serve Moms in Prayer Idaho alongside my mom, Karla Slonaker. Sharing our story of spiritual death to spiritual life has been a joy. She is my best friend!SCRIPTURESNot by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6b ESV“Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches!Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord!Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.” Lamentations 2:19 ESVTrain up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 ESVFor where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20 ESVWho is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Romans 8:34 ESVFor by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 ESVNot only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Feb 16 2026

    ABOUT OUR GUEST

In 1994, I was a young mother of three boys and pregnant with my fourth, when my mom bought me the Moms in Prayer Booklet. I was in a stage of life where I would have protected my children from everything if I could, but I quickly discovered that was impossible. As I started praying in a Moms in Prayer group, my relationship with the Lord began to take shape. I went from knowing about Him, to really trusting Him, His name, and His character. Praying together with other moms not only taught me how to pray, but how to let go of all I wanted to control and to trust God—His word, His work, His provision, and His plans.

My husband Tom and I have been married for 41 years and we live in Deshler, Ohio. We have been blessed with four sons, two beautiful daughter-in-loves and five adorable grandchildren. I have been a part of Moms in Prayer for over 30 years. I served as the State Coordinator for Ohio from 2015-2022. I currently serve as the Great Lakes Division Coordinator, which include Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

    SCRIPTURES

The heart of man plans his way,

but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9 ESV

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”

“O death, where is your victory?

O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:55 ESV

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies; Psalm 23:5a ESV

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12 ESV

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. God’s ways are as mysterious as the pathway of the wind and as the manner in which a human spirit is infused into the little body of a baby while it is yet in its mother’s womb. Keep on sowing your seed, for you never know which will grow—perhaps it all will. Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 TLB

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed

That I would see the goodness of the Lord

In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 NKJV

Tackle every task that comes along, and if you fear God, you can expect his blessing. Ecclesiastes 7:18 TLB

  • 1 Corinthians 15 | Victorious in Motherhood | Sally Burke
    Feb 2 2026
“Every day we get an opportunity to say to God, ‘Here I am. I am Your vessel. How can I live for you?’ We have a choice. Are we going to live for the world? Or are we going to live for God?” Life with God is full of joy, peace and love! Moms in Prayer President, Sally Burke, joins us again to talk through 1 Corinthians 15, the chapter where our theme “Victorious” comes from. We CAN be victorious in life and in motherhood because of the truth of the gospel and because God is with us!The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. To find practical and spiritual advice to help you grow into the parent you want to be visit ChristianParenting.orgABOUT OUR GUESTSally Burke’s introduction to the ministry in 1990 was life changing. Compelled by joy and the hope God gave as she prayed with others for her children and their schools, Sally began to reach out and share with other moms—first as a Moms in Prayer group leader, then area coordinator for her hometown of Temecula, California, and later as regional coordinator for Riverside County. In 2008, Sally became the Director of Field Ministry at Moms in Prayer headquarters, overseeing ministry expansion worldwide. Today, in her role as President of Moms in Prayer International, her vision remains unchanged, that more children and schools and moms might experience God’s life-changing answers to prayer. Sally is also an international speaker, teacher and author of Raise Them Up, Start with Praise, Unshaken and the Unshaken Study Guide. As a child growing up in Florida, Sally was fascinated with the space program and began her career as a space shuttle engineer with a Master of Science in Management. After her marriage and the birth of two children, Sally and her husband came to faith in Christ, and Moms in Prayer soon became a top priority. She and husband, Ed, now have four grown children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. In her leisure time, you’ll find Sally on a walk/run, curled up with a good book or enjoying the company of friends.SCRIPTURESBut thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 ESV“Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches!Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord!Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.” Lamentations 2:19 ESVIn him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:13 ESVHe has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, Ecclesiastes 3:11a ESVThen he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38 ESVLINKSMOMS IN PRAYERNew to Moms in Prayer? • 1 Corinthians 14 | Victorious in Motherhood | Heidi Fromke
    Jan 19 2026

“Whatever our gifts are, we need to use them to build up others and point them to Christ so they can know Him and He can receive the glory.” Heidi Fromke, our Appalachian Division Coordinator, joins us on the podcast today to talk through 1 Corinthians 14. She reminds us of the importance of using our God given gifts for encouraging and building up the church. In our flesh, it is easy to fall into the trap of wanting to make ourselves look good and impress others with what we can do, but God can use us in far greater ways when we live our lives for His glory.

    ABOUT OUR GUEST

Learning to hold her kids loosely and trust God with them is a daily challenge which Heidi found to be especially true when her boys were just beginning school. It was during this time of trying to “let go” a bit that she found Moms in Prayer after hearing Moms in Prayer Founder, Fern Nichols, on the radio.

The Lord encouraged her to start a Moms in Prayer group at her sons’ school in 2003. She prayed with this group of moms for 17 years. They joined her in covering her boys, their kids and their school community. They lifted their requests to God and saw Him do immeasurably more than they could ask or imagine as He walked with them through a son’s illness, Young Life established at the school, and students’ hearts turned to Christ. Heidi has come to know the Lord in an amazingly intimate way as He has shown her His love for her boys and that He truly can be trusted above all else.

She has been married to Mark, who has filled her days with laughter since 1990. They have three boys in their twenties, two amazing daughters-in-law and two grandsons! After growing up in Minnesota and spending a few years in St. Louis, they have fallen in love with North Carolina. Heidi is looking forward to watching God work as He draws other moms to experience His power, grace and loving acceptance through prayer!

    SCRIPTURES

we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” Acts 2:11b ESV

Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:12b ESV

For by people of strange lips

    and with a foreign tongue

the Lord will speak to this people, Isaiah 28:11 ESV

  • 1 Corinthians 13 | Victorious in Motherhood | Robin Elliott
    Jan 5 2026

“Because of His love and Jesus’ sacrifice for us, we will fully know Him and worship Him forever.” Because of God’s great love, He sent His Son so we could be in His presence for all eternity. And His love is an example to us of how we are to love others.

Today on the podcast, our United States Country Coordinator, Robin Elliott, joins us on the podcast to talk through 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter. As followers of Christ, we are called to love others. And it may not be with the kind of love you think. Listen in to hear how God calls each of us to love those around us.

The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. To find practical and spiritual advice to help you grow into the parent you want to be visit ChristianParenting.org

    ABOUT OUR GUEST

Robin has been married to her husband, John, since 1986. When their oldest started school, she heard about Moms in Prayer on the radio and joined a group for the local school. That was the beginning of an amazing journey which has led from Minnesota to Idaho and from a group member into leadership. Robin currently serves as USA Country Coordinator.

Through Moms in Prayer, she has learned that one hour a week can put the rest of the week’s activities into perspective. Over and over, God has multiplied her time when she put Him first. She would love for each woman to have that same experience. Robin has found that when she gets busy and becomes distracted, it is easy to lose perspective and move ahead in her own strength. But when she sets aside weekly time to pray with others in a Moms in Prayer group, her focus on who God is and what God has done gives her all she needs to handle every situation she faces. 2 Samuel 22:33 reminds us that “It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.”

    SCRIPTURES

For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? 1 Corinthians 3:3 ESV

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Romans 12:15 ESV

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Romans 12:9 ESV

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 1 Peter 5:6 ESV
