  • Season 2 - Episode 31 - The Myth Of The Stolen Base
    Aug 22 2025

We love to hear your thoughts. Tell us how you enjoyed the Podcast.

Welcome to Episode 31, Season 2, today we are going to talk about, "The Myth of Stolen Base”…Myth? Really?

Has the Stolen Base become more popular since the new rule changes?

Yes, Major League Baseball (MLB) has seen a significant increase in stolen bases since the implementation of the pitch clock and other related rule changes in the 2023 season. This surge is a direct result of several interconnected rule modifications designed to speed up the game and inject more action.

The primary rule changes contributing to the increase in stolen bases include the pitch clock, larger bases, and limitations on pitcher disengagements (pickoff attempts). The pitch clock, set at 15 seconds with no runners on base and 20 seconds with runners on base (reduced to 18 seconds in 2024), forces pitchers to deliver the ball more quickly, potentially making it harder for them to hold runners close to the base. Batters must also be ready in the box by the 8-second mark.

The size of the bases was increased from 15 square inches to 18 square inches. This seemingly small change reduces the distance between bases by 4.5 inches, making it slightly easier for runners to reach the bag safely and providing a larger target for sliding.

  • Season 2 - Episode 30 - The Window of Opportunity
    Aug 15 2025

We love to hear your thoughts. Tell us how you enjoyed the Podcast.

Welcome to Episode 30, Season 2, where we dive into the concept of the “Window of Opportunity.” Every team gets a shot—a limited stretch where their current roster has the talent, chemistry, and form to truly contend for a World Series. Thanks to free agency and rising contracts, for most teams, this prime window lasts about five years. We’re not talking about teams simply staying competitive. We’re talking about those rare moments when everything aligns, and a team can go all the way. This is the elusive “Window of Opportunity” that every owner and fan hopes for.

Let’s break it down and get more specific. Obviously, some organizations are committed to produce a winning team more often than others. We get used to this, and expect these teams to be competitive throughout the years. Let’s list those teams now.
