The event looked into the current school book ban in the United States, which affects over 5,000 schools from 138 districts across 32 states, totaling nearly 4 million students. Books by BIPOC authors, featuring BIPOC protagonists, and highlighting racism are increasingly being added to the list of prohibited books.
