  • Episode 15: ROLLING WITH SUUMO
    Mar 22 2021

We had our first official guest on the show, our friend, brother, fellow entrepreneur, and King of the Eggrolls Chef Suumo, and we did not disappoint.

If you’ve been along our journey, you’ve heard us talk about our friends who we started shooting music videos for that got us into this arena. We talked through our collective journey from starting that business to branching out and now each individually creating and operating our own businesses.

Not only is Suumo a full-time entrepreneur, but he is also a full-time single father. I was only right that we talked to him about mastering his balancing act of work, children, personal and romantic life all in one. We also dove into the importance of mental health, seeking therapy, and looking at yourself in the mirror.

This episode got serious but also full of laughs and some pretty great throwback stories. If you’re in ATL or the Lawrenceville area, be sure to put your order in for Chef Suumo’s egg rolls! They are worth the wait and worth the drive! Follow him on IG @CookinwithSuumo to see what’s on the menu!

  • Episode 14: Are you good mentally?
    Mar 15 2021

In the world of entrepreneurship, nothing comes easy. Couple the difficulty of owning your own business with a pandemic, personal life, learning how to delegate, etc., and sometimes it all comes to a head. That is what this episode is about.

Sometimes being “strong” actually causes you to be “weak”. Not knowing when to ask for help, when to take a break, when to delegate tasks, or simply just trying to be everything to everybody can cause your brain and body to shut down on you. And that is what my (Jasmine's) body did to me. It was my wake-up call.

2021, I had a mental breakdown, but through working and talking through it with

Barry, I’m better. Not healed, because I am still struggling with giving up control in everything, delegating, and not overfilling my plate, but that is what has a partner and team is for.

  • Episode 13: VIVA LA MEXICO
    Feb 23 2021

Viva la Mexico!!!!! So we did it! We took a trip to Mexico for Valentine’s Day. Well, not for Valentine’s Day per se, but to get away and take a break. (Jasmine needed it). This was our first solo international trip, and it didn’t disappoint. Not in the way you think, and honestly, not how we expected ourselves.

From being bamboozled into a timeshare that wasn’t a timeshare tour to having deep, eye-opening conversations, Mexico transformed us. Being still and reflective opens your eyes and puts the mirror in front of you, and there is no way to hide from it. We were honest with ourselves about suffering from imposter syndrome and feeling unworthy of the success that we have worked hard for. We got to experience our “eat, pray, love” moment together, and it was so worth it!

    Talk to us!!!!

Have you sat down and looked yourself in the mirror or with your partner and had a brutally honest conversation about your pitfalls? How do you motivate one another to push past them?
