Why would anyone support Trump? Because he acted all-knowing. We didn’t have to think. We could rely on HIM. It’s not just Trump. It’s whoever or whatever we have made god. And our god might have been “God” or a parent, friend, romantic partner, author, religious leader, political party, spiritual or cultural community, or an inanimate object or value, such as money, power or success. Whatever we have made “god” has to remain bigger than life, and in order to keep our “god” big, we have had to make ourselves and/or others small.
