Let’s consider the US: When we look at some of the results of the primaries, it's hard to deny that there have been some shifts in the thinking of American voters, but does that signal a shift into caring more for one another, instead of just caring for ourselves, or is it all still motivated primarily by self-interest? The anti-establishment anger could be useful to galvanize people for change, but does it signal evolution in our consciousness? Freaking out about climate change when your house is on fire might lead to different voting behaviors, but does it show a change in our attitude towards the earth and ourselves?
