About this listen
In parts of Appalachia, the dense laurel thickets on the slopes of the high lonesome ridges are known as “Hells.” They are dark, forbidding and moody, yet what can be dangerous is also beautiful. From these hells, the same hells of their ancestors, has emerged the Laurel Hells Ramblers.
Self described as Gothic Mountain Bluegrass, Founding members, Clover Lynn Forbes and Jade Louise Alexander have evolved a style of music that honors the roots of Appalachia.
The full band consists of Clover on banjo, Jade on fiddle, Deidre Price on guitar, and Saro Cain Rose on upright base. This young quartet, well educated in the historical music of the region, seeks to break barriers and build bridges between new listeners and the traditional troubadours of their rural hometowns.
