  • John Collins
    Nov 1 2025

For all of you staying in and curling up by the fire on this Halloween night, why don't you cue up this interview with author John Collins? He comes onto the podcast to talk to Scotty about his novella "The Leeds Point Horror" (2025, Alien Buddha Press), and they have a wide-ranging conversation about influences from Stephen King, "Jaws," splatterpunk, classic 1950s pulp fiction, and more. John discusses his initial dreams of being a movie effects artist and his subsequent transition into writing fiction. They also talk about "breaking rules" in their writing, tackling "taboo" subjects, and the tricky notion of "going too far."

They close out the episode by taking a look at director David Slade's underrated but effective 2023 adaptation of Norman Partridge's Bram Stoker Award-winning novel "Dark Harvest."
