  • HiddenTrack #274 ACTOR OBSERVER (Greg Marquis)
    Oct 23 2025

Since the release of their debut full length in 2015, ACTOR OBSERVER from Boston, MA have become a well-respected musical force throughout New England. Their dynamic sound and electric live performance are charged with a visceral sincerity and vulnerability that audience members find refreshing in the current age of post-hardcore. On 2022’s ‘Songs For The Newly Reclusive’ the quintet explored a broad range of emotional and musical depth, confronting topics of gentrification, toxic masculinity, generational trauma, and isolation amidst a clamoring world in distress. The resulting sound was their most focused and impactful album yet, garnering them a spot on the 2023 Boston Calling Music Festival (alongside legacy acts such as Foo Fighters, Paramore and Queens of the Stone Age) and a tour with metalcore heavyweights He Is Legend. After kicking off 2025 opening for The Used at House of Blues in Boston, AO signed with Dynamic Talent International for booking. Since then they have toured all over the eastern half of the US, northeast Canada with Kaonashi, and released two new singles, with a third on the way.

  • HiddenTrack #273 NAMES WITHOUT NUMBERS (Dave Owens & Ryan Cruickshank)
    Oct 16 2025

Names Without Numbers is a four-piece rock and roll band from Omaha, NE. The

band was originally formed by a group of longtime friends and musicians trying to

transition away from their pop-punk roots to a grittier, emotional style of rock.

Previous releases by the band have seen a growth from experimental emo and

punk to a more polished pop-rock sound. The band has played and/or toured

throughout the midwest with the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard

Confessional, Hot Rod Circuit, Copeland, Plain White T’s, and dozens of other acts.

Stylistically, Names Without Numbers plays a blend of guitar-driven, indie-power-

pop, with plenty of raw emotion, simple and honest lyrics, and catchy hooks. Some

bands with a comparable style include Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin, Weezer,

Movements, Better Off, Paramore, Acceptance, Can't Swim, and The Dangerous

    Summer.

  • HiddenTrack #271 MUD WHALE (Michael Morris)
    Oct 2 2025

Mud Whale are a highly dynamic alt-rock band formed in 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Shortly after arriving in his new home, vocalist and guitarist Michael Morris went searching for like-minded musicians and found a tight-knit group with guitarist Justin Cheuvront, drummer Avery Sylvaine and bassist Joe Hanson. The band’s existence is a “beautiful, random coincidence” that finds them united by a shared vision of making music that’s as tenderly melancholic as it is urgently chaotic.

Mud Whale have burst forth with a powerful sound that’s easily accessible yet wholly their own, propelled by an intent focus on strong songwriting and razor-sharp musicianship.
