Through prayer and God’s guidance, David pursues the enemy and recovers everything, showing the Lord’s faithfulness in his trials. Meanwhile, Saul faces his final battle against the Philistines on Mount Gilboa, where he and his sons, including Jonathan, fall in defeat. These closing chapters mark both David’s rise and Saul’s tragic end, reminding us of God’s justice, mercy, and sovereignty over Israel’s future.

In this episode, we read 1 Samuel chapters 26–29. David once more spares King Saul’s life, proving his loyalty to the Lord by refusing to harm God’s anointed, even when given the chance. Saul acknowledges David’s righteousness, yet David continues to live as a fugitive, seeking safety among the Philistines. As tensions rise between Israel and the Philistines, David’s situation grows more complicated. These chapters remind us of the importance of trusting God’s timing, showing mercy, and walking with integrity even under pressure.

In this episode, we read 1 Samuel chapters 23–25. David continues to flee from Saul, finding both danger and deliverance as God protects him at every turn. We see the people of Keilah and the wilderness of Ziph play a role in his journey, Jonathan strengthens David’s faith, and Abigail steps in with wisdom and courage to prevent bloodshed. These chapters reveal God’s providence, the testing of David’s character, and the power of humility and discernment in moments of conflict.

In this episode, we read 1 Samuel chapters 20–22. David and Jonathan reaffirm their covenant of friendship, even as Saul’s hostility deepens. David is forced to flee for his life, finding refuge among priests and outcasts, while Saul’s jealousy drives him to violence and destruction. Through these chapters, we see themes of loyalty, betrayal, and God’s ongoing protection over David as he is prepared for his future role as king.

In this episode, we read 1 Samuel chapters 17–19. David, a young shepherd, faces the giant warrior Goliath and defeats him with faith in the Lord and a simple sling. His victory brings him honor among Israel, but King Saul grows increasingly jealous of David’s rising fame. Despite Saul’s hostility and attempts on his life, David remains faithful, while Jonathan, Saul’s son, forms a loyal friendship with him. These chapters highlight God’s power to deliver, the dangers of envy, and the beauty of true friendship.

In this episode, we read 1 Samuel chapters 15–16. God commands Saul to completely destroy the Amalekites, but Saul’s partial obedience leads to his rejection as king. Samuel delivers the sobering truth that “to obey is better than sacrifice.” Meanwhile, God chooses David, the youngest son of Jesse, to be the next king of Israel. Though still a shepherd boy, David is anointed by Samuel, and the Spirit of the Lord comes upon him. These chapters reveal God’s desire for faithful hearts and His sovereign plan in raising up leaders after His own heart.
