• Most people in Wales clearly don’t want Farage

This was a lot of fun. The gang start by talking buses and the Welsh Gov’s plans to make it super cheap for young people to catch the bus. Mel reveals her bus-based child trauma.

They then break down some fascinating insights into a Welsh Conservative Facebook group.

They finish by looking at how well Eluned Morgan has done in her first year as First Minister (it ain’t great).

    About FWSW

100 years ago if you had picked up the Encyclopaedia Britannica and looked up “Wales” you would have seen four words - ‘For Wales, see England.’

This implied that Wales was no different to England. Not worthy of its own description. Second fiddle. Frankly, it implied that Wales was simply less of a country.

That is why we have launched our podcast: For Wales, See Wales.

It is a weekly look at Welsh politics looking at the issues that matter to people here.

There are so many people who are passionately Welsh, who care about Wales and want to better understand what is happening here.

The more informed people are on Welsh issues, the more they are able to hold politicians and decision makers to account for the things that affect their lives.

Just as importantly, we want to have a good laugh talking and learning about the country we love.

Plus we have some great merchandise which you can buy here: https://for-wales-see-wales.teemill.com/

  • Keir Starmer needs to actually stand up to the far-right
    Aug 29 2025

The trio are back in the studio after the summer and Mel has been having a whale of a time campaigning for justice for the Shetland Duck. Will is apparently going to the new James Bond while Robin has fallen down the stairs.

The pod looks at the total lack of resistance to Nigel Farage stoking up hatred and takes a good look through the Overton Window.

Will and Mel then chat to Robin “speed freak” Morgan about the 20mph limit and how it was actually a brilliant idea.

  • Leanne Wood on the Pod
    Aug 21 2025

In this week’s episode, the For Wales See Wales team are joined by former Plaid Cymru leader, Leanne Wood.

On the podcast, Leanne discusses her former career as a probation officer and how her time working with some of the most challenged members of society boosted her enthusiasm to stand for the Senedd. She also shares with the FWSW trio how she really feels about the rise of Reform in her home patch of Y Rhondda, divulging that she even sat in one of their meetings, bringing it to a halt.

Leanne takes Will, Mel and Robin back to 2015 to discuss the Leaders Debates which saw her go head-to-head with Nigel Farage on live TV, and recalls the pressure of being the only Welsh voice on a national platform.

  • No one else is going to help Wales
    Aug 14 2025

This week's pod gets into the big question, 'where the hell are Robin's sports goggles?'.

The trio also dive into the one part of Wales which is bucking the trend and getting younger as well as discussing why rents are growing faster in Wales than anywhere in England.

We then have some fascinating audience questions where they talk about how Wales is forgotten, and whether we should be annoyed about it.

  • How will the next Welsh election be different?
    Aug 7 2025

This week the gang realise that Google street view has captured the moment of the podcast’s (immaculate) conception.

They dive into what the new electoral system will mean for how parties campaign across Wales and whether some would-be Senedd Members will even put the name of their party on their leaflets.

The pod then goes global with a question from a Canadian listener who wants to know how political discourse impacts the ability of comedians to tell jokes.

  • Reform gets their first Senedd member
    Jul 31 2025

The second half of the pod's trip to the Royal Welsh sees some cracking guests.

First off the trio discuss Laura Anne Jones’ big money transfer to Reform from the because she has stopped recognising the Tories.

They are then joined by the Senedd’s Llywydd, Elin Jones, who explains what it is like to the Speaker of the Welsh Parliament. She also reveals a little of Mel’s nerdy past.

Next up we have dairy farmer Abi Reader who explains what makes a good cow. After Will has talked about cows for ages they delve into the Sustainable Farming Scheme and what it means for the future of agriculture in Wales.

  • Life among the farmers, the pod goes on the road
    Jul 24 2025

The gang leave their Newport base to visit the Royal Welsh Show and my gosh are there a lot of sheep!

The trio park up inside a Lion Container at the UK’s (if not the world's) greatest agricultural show to talk all things farming.

The new Sustainable Farming Scheme (we will explain what that means) has been announced and the pod sits down with the best goatee in Welsh politics Huw Irranca-Davies to find out what it means. Will this see the end of Welsh farming protests? We shall see.

Elsewhere Welsh Lib Dem leader Jane Dodds drops in and hints that she might be about to jump on a paddle board.

This episode is a two-parter with the second one coming next week.

  • Why is Wales treated like this?
    Jul 18 2025

Robin is back from sailing the “Severn” seas and he has some big points to make about Greenwich mean time.

The three ask the question of what Reform doing well will mean for Wales? Will then enters a rage spiral at the Welsh Government response to the last podcast.

Mel then drops some “uncomfortable truths” while the trio explore how Wales is perceived within the wider UK.
